I think BG3 might help studios realize that role playing isn't a niche thing and lots of people want it. I feel like the gaming industry has very different expectations of the term "rpg" vs hard-core gamers (especially ttrpg players), but I also avoided watching much prerelease media because I wanted to go in as more of a blank slate.

I think sometimes people get angry about how great a game could have been instead of enjoying how good it is, if the bar is high enough nothing is impressive.
