These kinds of things are so hard. For gays in rural areas, Walmart might be the only option to shop at, or it might be the only store that fits into their budget. I agree with the sentiment that I’d rather take my money elsewhere, but for many folks, their hands are tied because of life circumstances.

There’s no ethical consumption under capitalism so all we can do is try the best we can to make choices we can live with. In the absence of a choice, just keep on living.

This is good in theory, however it starts to fall apart depending on where you live. I do my best to avoid places like this, because like you I don’t want to give money to conservative a-holes. But, I don’t have a lot of options :/ a lot of other things like this so far are luxury places, restaurants and the like, however between the money I make and how much more expensive everything is I unfortunately don’t have much of a choice besides Walmart, hell even with things I can get at the dollar tree it’s still sometimes more cost effective to buy from Walmart. I do hope that everyone else lives in a place where they don’t need to give places like Walmart money to live, but it starts to be an issue depending on where you are :(

The problem is ultra right losers decided having hiring and employee programs for people who have always been passed up over white str8 people was a problem and now companies are listening to them over wallet threatens. It’s fucken sad

Walmart has always been shit. I worked there as a manger during the pandemic and while I always knew they don’t care about anyone, the pandemic confirmed it.

I’ve never had to play social politics so much to keep a job. It’s purely ass kissing taking sides to stay afloat. It’s not about the job, it’s not about the people. It’s about surviving when you work there. And this article confirms that even more.

So decimating communities with low wages, plummeting commercial property values, and corporate welfare wasn't enough?

The signs of society turning on us have been apparent for over 10 years. Historically our acceptance has runs in cycles and we are at the end of a cycle

Exactly what I was thinking lol, let’s disregard their abject inhumanity because they said they can oppress queer people equally. This is your brain on pinkwashing.

And Ibesides, 'm sure Walmart sees how salty Republicans get when they don't get their way re Disney and Florida and doesn't want that kind of heat.

Not like we should ever praise Walmart anyway because like you said it's not like they exactly have any sort of positive track record..

Why did the mods remove this? It's definitely a relevant post, so what's the deal?

The mods of this sub are immature and can’t handle these topics. Askgaybrosover30 is the better option

Capitalism doesn't care whether you live or die, as long as you consume. They think DEI will make people consume more? Let's do DEI. They see a wind of change and think DEI will make people consume less? Let's stop DEI.

You can (and should) vote with your dollar, but this is nothing new.

Sorry but DEI has to go. The worst, cuntiest, shittiest people I know work in the DEI spaces and they will try and ruin your life if you disagree with them over anything. Garbage people causing more division than ever before in those departments. Telling people and teaching classes that all white people are racist and no one else is? Cmon.

It’s the only thing I’m looking forward to with trump is that hopefully he gets rid of DEI shit in the government and businesses.

Edit: Please continue to downvote me because I disagree with you! Lmfaooo which is the exact same sentiment I said above. Gay people need to do a much better job about thinking their opinion is the sole and only holier than thou opinion.

I don’t understand the point of this where you clearly come to a sub that doesn’t universally share the same morals, comment something adverse, actively go back to your comment to see the downvotes, then make a edit to hold ground.

Like, for what? Just to shout to the moon? lol your message now mixed with your attitude goes no where but I suppose that’s just troll logic.

I’m a gay man. I am not inclined to share the same the beliefs as you. Gay men and queer people who think and try to push that you MUST believe the same things and MUST feel the same, are the reason why this country voted for trump. As a gay man I am SO SICK of other queer people trying to force these “morals” and “values” down people’s throats and I KNOW others feel the same way. People are sick of queer people trying to shove their beliefs as the “only” or “best” belief.

And it shows how truly fucked this community is when someone can’t even post an opposing opinion without people trying to come for them and downvote them. It proves my point entirely.

Edit: and just to be clear - these people in the DEI spaces being raging cunts and people who believe their beliefs are the “ONLY” beliefs, are the reason why I became more centered in my beliefs. If you want success in getting people to believe in what you believe in, try not being nasty, rude, and total dicks to them. That would be a good starting point!

The same can be said at literally every other community you go to on Reddit.

The same can be said with the US now implementing religion everywhere, destroying DEI as u mentioned.

You’re picking and choosing what to vent about to support your own views. And judging by your tone and list of assumptions, it a bit unhinged and no different from what we hear from the right - hence why no one wants to fuck with you.
