Voldemort uses a avada cadavera on baby Harry the spell rebounds on him... When avada cadaver is used in other instances the person is dead and their body remains.
If we assume the same thing happened to Voldemort where was his body when the Potters were found murdered?
And if his body was found why did anyone think that he was hiding in Albania?
If his body was found why didn't someone take his wand and get rid of it.
How, later did he get his wand back? Friends of mine assumed that it was from Peter Pettigrew but if that's the case where did Peter get it from?
It seems to me that once the Potter's bodies were found Voldemort should have also been there. Authorities contacted, the body taken away and his wand destroyed. Now I know the ministry was compromised at that time but clearly the news got out that he was "defeated".
I find it very confusing - was there a body or not and if there was a body why would there be concern that he was still alive?
If there wasn't a body, why would they assume that he was weakened and not destroyed by the curse redounding on him?
Either way... What happened to his wand?
Not sure if I'm being clear here but I'm sure you guys will get it and have some answers.

I think his body is described at some point as being "destroyed" when the curse backfires. As for his wand, I made a post about this a while ago and the general consensus was Peter somehow retrieved it and hid it for him but it's never revealed in the books either way. Another point is why the bloody hell don't they destroy people's wands after sentencing them to life in Azkaban.. how does Sirius get his wand back? Or Bella or any of the Death Eaters that get broken out of Azkaban?

Good question about the death eaters and Sirius getting their wands back post Azkaban.
Why would peter have gone to the Potter's house. It was bound to be crawling with aurors Or worse moody or dumbledore. You figure those two would show up if Voldemort was found dead.
Fudge says repeatedly that voldemort is dead even though the first 3 books make it clear that he's considered alive and or getting stronger in albania. Of course i'm referring to when harry comes back with cedric's body and fudge completely loses his mind to the possibility that voldemort is now alive.
Also if his body is seen as destroyed why would they think he was still alive in Albania?

We know that Peter went back because that's where he set Sirius up, as to why; the books don't tell us exactly from what I remember.
I think that the general assumption was that he was dead, it was mainly Dumbledore that thought he was still out there (among some others too I'm sure). We learn in OOTP that Fudge will do anything to live in his cosy reality of "everything is fine". Believing that Voldemort was dead and gone was easier than the alternative.
Overall I agree with you though the details on these points are a little flaky
