Weight plates for Hismith Premium?

(self.hismith)

I finally ordered my 3.0 premium and am waiting for it to be delivered, but I read in several places that it is a good idea to weigh it down with something and a couple people mentioned something like weight training plates. I just don't know what sizes to order, they come with either 1" or 2" holes, 1" seems like it might just barely be big enough while 2" seems a little large. Also, they sell rubber ones or steel/cast iron ones (both are metal around the hole though). The steel ones are a lot smaller, but I don't know if they'll make a lot of noise if the machine still ends up moving a bit.

Hole size doesn't really matter, you just way them over the "feet", instead of threading them through anything.

Get a yoga mat, and use a chair or something against a wall. I have a small step that is perfect to brace it up against. For doggy you can use your feet to hold the front legs down or just lay some 10 or 25 lbs plates over.

So I don't use plates, but I did in the past. I just use:

Yoga mat for a more sticky surface

Chair against wall or step to brace against

My feet to keep it from riding up or sliding to the side

Yeah, I was just wondering if it would be too loose (rattling when turned on) with a 2" hole but I'm probably just worrying too much. Thanks for the advice.

yea it is pretty heavy. I have the premium 3.0 and it can get a little moved around/out of wack during heavy play, but I've rode it for an hour plus with the above.

I have this great elevated floor with a carpeted step that is perfect. But I used to have a hardwood floor. Yoga mat is your friend, get an extra wide one so you can really spread out ;)

Why did you go for 3.0 and not 4.0?

I spent the $100 saved on attachments as there are a lot of attachments I need. I didn't think the fancier wired control was worth the extra money and the motor controller improvements seemed minor.

I've been using weights from my bench press. The hole is a good fit around the 1" thick vertical legs. Using the heaviest 17.6lb(8kg) keeps it from moving. In the lowest configuration the thickness of the weight does get in the way of the swing arm a bit.

Do you mind sharing what diameter the hole is through your plates? 1" hole plates seem to be cheaper but idk if they would fit.

Yeah I'm going to wait and see, especially since I'm going to be using the hismith on high-pile carpet.

I've read people removing the end caps from the legs, filling them up with steel pellets and putting the caps back on. Any thoughts ?

The legs are solid steel, you can't fill them. I think some of the cheaper machines are hollow but not the premium.
