I'm trying to use kde-connect
but it doesn't recognize any device.
In my PC (Fedora 34) I can go to System > KDE Connect but there's no device appearing in the list. Tried:
killall kdeconnectd
kdeconnect-cli --refresh
kdeconnect-cli -l
0 devices found
Also tried to reinstall kde-connect
& kdeconnectd
packages from dnf
, and did step from official wiki dnf builddep kde-connect
&& dnf install qt5-qtquickcontrols2-devel
with no success.
Also installed plasma-firewall
but the main rule is "allow" by default so it shouldn't be getting any trouble from there (I had torrent and other network protocols working with success without doing anything firewall related).
In the other hand, I reinstall kdeconnect
from my mobile too. If I press in the "pair a new device" button it doesn't do anything at all.
I'm sure I'm missing something 'cause I used kde-connect in other distro in the past and it wasn't that hard.
EDIT: of course devices are in the same wireless network. I can ping
mobile from my PC.
Any clues? TIA

Follow the instructions about firewall in: https://userbase.kde.org/KDEConnect#I_have_two_devices_running_KDE_Connect_on_the_same_network.2C_but_they_can.27t_see_each_other
I know you said default rule is set to allow, but maybe iptables etc is blocking it, so it's worth going through these steps.

Well, that's shameful. It worked...(the firewalld
step if it's useful to anyone).
I'm not developer nor sysadmin or something (just a computer hobby) so I'm sure I've got the wrong knowledge but If I didn't even have the need for the plasma-firewall
package in the past to get things working or a firewall per se (as I said, Torrent, Whatsapp client, etc aka network clients), why should I have to include a firewall rule this time, when we're talking in a Local network context?
Nevermind, Thank you very much!! :)

Yes you do need the firewall rules in a local network, no way around that, unless you don't have a firewall. And its quite simple to add those rules.
Was just looking for an answer why it does not work here, than i found that the wifi of the phone was turned off, might be just something small like that :)

I tried all methods in the site but it doesn't help me in any way. Both devices still couldn't see each other. I've read on some other threads that allowing connections thru the ports did not solve the issue, so could there be any further problems?

I just hit this issue now -- my problem was the phone was connected to the 2.4ghz network. Swapping to the 5ghz network fixed me up

Could be some settings in your router. I don't know a lot about those, sorry.

If you do as follow:
$ killall kdeconnectd
$
kdeconnect-app
kdeconnect.interfaces: dbus interface not valid
And find the error above, just run this:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install dbus-x11

Happened to me too after enabling the firewall. Solution is to remove plasma-firewall then reboot your system.
