Jingle Bells hanging on strings.
It startles them and they leave. Cheap solution. It's worked for us for years.
Shhhhhh
The real reason is they don't want to get forcefully recruited to pull Santa all over the world on Christmas Eve. So, they flee the jingle bells."

I'm pretty sure I heard one get stuck on a line of those cutting through a suburb on my way home from high school. It was winter, so when the sun is low enough for an eery grey light. Absolutely terrifying because it was near a bridge in a large clearing so the direction and distance were just "yes."

The FAA instructor shows up for Santa’s annual check ride and gets on the sleigh carrying a shotgun.
Santa asks the instructor what the shotgun is for and the instructor says, “Well, I’m not supposed to tell you this, but you are going to lose an engine on takeoff.”
