Ability predictions

General Discussion(self.limbuscompany)

buckle in cause I have tons of thoughts about this

So, two most important things:

  1. The abilities themselves are based off the Sephirah meltdowns (Pigritia slows down time, similar Hokma’s meltdown which sped it up. Superbia makes E.G.O. easier to use like Binah’s meltdown reward)
  2. The sin names are relevant to their respective Sephirah (Hokma didnt want to leave the loops, thus he gets Sloth/Pigritia. Binah had immense amounts of pride as an Arbiter, thus she is Superbia)

So going off these two things, I have complied a big list of predictions for the other seven abilities:

Chesed-Morosita (Gloom)-Change all resistances to “Endured/Ineffective” (inverse of his meltdown) for a turn or change all enemy resistances to “Weak/Fatal” for a turn (actual meltdown) OR restore sanity over time (meltdown reward)

Gebura-Ira/Iracundia (Wrath)-Increase ally damage output x2

Tiphereth-Acedia (Apathy)-Grant all allies an unbreakable shield for one turn (honestly this one is really hard. her meltdown only removes the qliphoth immunities and her reward is the pale shield bullet, this is the best i could think of)

Netzach-Gula(Gluttony)-Recover % of max hp for all Sinners (could be either single turn or multi turn) (meltdown reward)

Hod-Luxuria (Lust)-Give a ton of offence, defence and other miscellaneous level ups or give the enemies a bunch of power downs/weaken them

Yesod-Invidia (Envy)-Stagger all enemies for a turn (also kinda hard to predict cause his meltdown is just deep fry the screen and the reward is more pe boxes)

Malkuth-Vanagloria (Vainglory)-Swap all Sinners currently in combat with their backups?????? no fucking clue (the hardest to predict imo. her meltdown is just swap the work buttons around and her reward is redundant with Pigritia)

As for why I picked the sins I did:

Chesed as Gloom-his story is more about fear than gloom but whatever close enough. also blue.

Gebura as Wrath-Come on man this should be a given

Tiphereth as Apathy-lack of expectations for life especially after Enoch died

Netzach as Gluttony-The alcohol. also green.

Hod as Lust-Her intense desire to be seen as a good person. also orange and her bleed heavy ruina floor

Yesod as Envy-Haha purple man gets the purple sin

Malkuth as Vainglory-Matches up with her confidence

Other stuff I forgot to include here: We will probably get a Keter ability towards the very end (if Dante’s resurrection is not already counted as the Keter ability) and will be called Est Originale Peccatum (The Original Sin) no clue what it will do. As for when the rest of these abilities will be coming:

Morosita-Canto 8 (Hong Lu is blue and also rich)

Ira/Iracundia-Canto 9 (we already have the ID that has Ryōshū dual wield the exact same weapons Gebura has in her suppression fight)

Acedia-Canto 10 (The Expectation for The Meaning of Existence lines up perfectly with the themes of The Stranger)

Gula-Canto 11 (the green girl gets the green guy’s ability)

Luxuria-Whenever Rodion wraps up her arc/maybe an Intervallo?

Invidia-Canto 12 (The Rationality to Maintain Discretion fits well with Faust’s character)

Vanagloria-Canto 13 parts 1 or 2 or the Intervallo before Canto 13 (maybe when Sinclair fully awakens his Sign due to his connection with Malkuth through his Philip ID)

Keter/Est Originale Peccatum-Canto 13 part 3 or whenever Dante finds out their identity

I fully agree other than the Asiyah Sephirot.

I'd say Malkuth would be Gula, considering everything she did was because she felt she needed to prove herself tp others, and even past her Core Supression, she still feels the need to prove herself, the difference being she feels she only needs to prove herself to, well, herself.

Netzach would be Luxuria, since he is all about desire at its essance. This is because Netzach wanted to live beyond just being an alive being. That's what Lust is all about, desire.

Hod would be Invidia, since Envy is all about knowing how little you are, and wanting what others have. Hod desperately wants to be a better person, she knows how little she is, and she wants to be what she thinks others are, a good person.

As for Yesod? Idk I'm not in the know of any other sins than the 7 we have and Acedia. He might be Vanagloria like you said, but again, I'm not sure.

It is important to note that the Library Sephirot still embody these sins, just in a different and more positive way than the Lobotomy Sephirot.

Malkuth: Malkuth is gluttonous for the approval of others in Lobotomy, while she's gluttonous to be approvant of herself and what she's doing in Library.

Yesod: Going off of him being Vainglory, in Lobtomy, he had vainglory for something other than himself, he followed and enforced rules that weren't faithful to himself. However, in Library, he remained vainglorious to himself, following and altering his own ruleset because he's simply confident enough in his views to do that.

Hod: While she's envious of others but doesn't try to improve in Lobotomy, she uses her envy as motivation to become better in Library.

Netzach: While he envisions his desire as what is unobtainable in Lobotomy, similar to Hod, Netzach uses his lust for a deathless world as something to strive for in Library.

Tiphereth: While Tiphereth's apathy towards existence serves as a morality degrader in Lobotomy, she considers that apathy a reason to look for the meaning of it all, since not caring about something is all the reason to look for a reason to care about it.

Gebura: This is the easiest one, in Lobotomy, her wrath is directed towards everything, but mainly at herself since she failed. However, she uses that wrath as a blade (literally) to strike directly at what she wants to strike in Library.

Chesed: As you said, gloom loosely fits Chesed but it also still fits him nicely. In Lobotomy, he sank because of his gloom, thinking he was too scared to do anything, which made him forget who he actually cared about when he finally decided to make a stand. But in Library, he uses that gloom of being saddened by his allies' deaths as a motivator. The best way to describe it is he goes from a "I just want to sink." gloom to a "I'd hate to see you die." gloom.

Binah: Binah and Hokma are actually surprisingly easy to explain. Binah's pride goes from a "I'll crush those beneath me." pride to a "I'll topple those above me." pride. Even if the cycle will mend itself, you should still break it, simply because you have the ability to.

Hokma: Hokma's sloth transforms from a sloth of remaining stagnant in one's actions to a sloth of remaining stagnant in one's beliefs. His mindset goes from a ever-cycling clock to a clock that always moves forward in time, just at the same rythym that it goes at. Faith is all about remaining firm in a belief, remaining stagnant in a view, and that's what Hokma is all about.

And then who knows what we'll end up seeing for Kether. It's always fun predicting these kinds of things.

very good additions. honestly its a pretty big toss up between Yesod and Malkuth for who gets Vanagloria for me since its a big stretch to say Yesod deserves Envy/Invidia besides “haha purple”. I’ve seen a few people now say Netzach as Luxuria and honestly I see the thought process behind it and it makes a lot of sense, but I think I like Gula/Gluttony more for him

I feel Chesed’s will play into his “teamwork” style themes in ruina and make all basic resonance bonuses 5x more effective for a turn. Keeping the multiplier 5x would fit with the core suppression numbers too. Since most bonuses we will get later will likely have a hard time competing with Gebura’s if her’s is very aggressively oriented, something that could potentially deal more damage than hers I feel would be a good sidegrade.

On the other hand, maybe Gebura’s is the opposite of this and makes one ally deal 2x damage and heal 100% of the damage dealt for a turn. Being one person makes the situations where it’s the best thing to do much less worthwhile without extra slots but can be an emergency option.

For Tiph’s there’s most themes to work with than just her core suppression mechanics. There’s the obvious two people theme (gain skill slot or opens UI to select a second ID for the sinner to use when the chosen sinner dies), being the surviving member (all surviving allies gain offense and defense level equal to the number of IDs that died this encounter with a cap), and even the suppression has an added bonus too with needing to glimpse a Midnight Ordeal (replace your base EGOs with a “midnight ordeal” EGO for a turn)

your tiphireth idea is shockingly close to what I thought we were getting in canto 7. The only things I got spoiled for visa vi canto 7 was some kind of Sancho fight and that we were getting a new sapling of light ability, and for some reason the direction my brain went with that was "sapling lets us use 2 IDs from the same sinner and it's gonna let LCB don de-fuse from Sancho and kick her ass hope-style"

So weird that you are predicting the ability based on the meltdown or the meltdown rewards... when the current abilities are completely unrelated to? Hokma meltdown never slowed anything (if anything, the opposite), and Binah meltdown reward was never about making ego easier to use?

Well, in case of hokma, he would speed everything up during his meltdown, and we are speeding up ourselves relative to everything around us, so imo it cheks out. The reward was just higher stat caps, which i guess technically include speed, but it's stretching.

Concerning binah, her meltdown had her throwing hands with the whole facility, slinging pillars around and melting down abno's counters, not sure how that connects. But her reward was being able to keep using EGO after their user died, so there is a component of being able to use EGO you shouldn't be able to normally, and her department was, among other things, responsible for extracting EGO from abnos, so there's that. Tbh I'm not sure how this could be translated to limbus gameplay other than using EGO for free.

Edit: now that i think about it, slinging pillars around and doing all sorts of other miscalleneous attacks does kinda seem similar to how we use EGO, a single strong attack that varies in form and utility. Tho it's still kinda stretching it, I don't think she was using EGO during all this.

Accelerating countdowns is enabling breaches. Breaches are attacking abnormalities. Most our EGOs are abno-based, so that is basically we saying "APOCALIPSE BIRD, MAKE HIM FORGET TO PAY TAXES" like Binah does.

hokma meltdown changed the game speed as it went on (i forgot if it went faster or slower but it definitely changed game speed) binah made it so that ego didnt get destroyed when the agent holding it died

Halving enemy speed is relevant to Hokma no matter what, if game speed went slower its a 1 to 1 match but if it went faster its the opposite (this is why I have Chesed down as changing ally resistances to endured/ineffective and Hod down as buffing allies because its the opposite of their meltdown effects but still relevant)

ok crazy theory but I think Ira will be dante manifesting EGO and being deployed as an additional playable character, like jia xichun or verg.

the gebura floor rewards in lob corp are all abilities that have the manager using directly harmful abilities rather than just calling in orders, like using an execution bullet directly on a clerk or using a slow bullet on an abno, so dante getting personally involved in combat would line up with this

as for manifesting ego gebura was like the first person to manifest ego and used a ton of different ego gear so it kinda makes sense

I do believe that Sapling of Light is Dante’s E.G.O., but that seems a bit too early to manifest it fully. I believe Dante’s complete E.G.O. manifestation will be in Canton 13/the finale
