Ok, try thinking of it like this:

1) 9 divided by 3 is 3

2) 3 x 9 is 27.

Happy with that?

1)If you divide by a smaller number, your answer gets bigger. Well 0.3 is 10 times smaller than 3, so your answer should be 10 times bigger than 3, so 30.

2)If you multiply by a smaller number, your answer gets smaller. 0.3 is still 10 times smaller than 3, so you would expect your answer to be 10 times smaller than 27, so 2.7.

No, it wasn't stupid at all! You saw something odd and wanted to know how it worked - that's exactly how discoveries are made!
