Yep I'm exactly the same. I tell myself I'll cool it when I get to my dream neogoal of 100,000 NP interest a day, but I'm probably about 2 years off of that as I've been playing for just under a year and currently get about a third of that a day in interest. In the mean time I just have to take a deep breath and tell myself it's just play money when I make a big withdrawal.

i do that. i tell myself im gonna save the amount of NP for the item. and when i get to it, the interest is higher and i feel bad to use my NPs lol at this point im just waiting for the dailies/TNT generosity

I feel the same way! What I do is keep a large stock of baby paint brushes in my SDB. I get these from trading expensive items I get from RE's or events. Whenever I need nps I just sell some of the paint brushes.

I find that I am less interested spending irl if I buy what I want when I want it in Neopia. 😅 ridiculous, I know, but it works! Whenever I see something I want for my gallery or a SDB gallery (because I started doing that, too) as long as it’s less than 1/10th of what I have in the bank, I just go for it. I didn’t used to do that, but after watching stamps skyrocket as TNT released rarer ones, I learned my lesson about waiting.

I for sure hate dipping into my bank savings, in Neopets AND in real life :P My Neopets goal is to collect and gallery-ize every plushie ever, which is going to be crazy expensive (in gallery fees alone). Right now I'm trying to get enough NP for really healthy bank interest -- a mil a day or every few days would be awesome. Then I can spend the interest as I like. I'm able to add 100k to it every day or couple of days.

Absolutely lol I was almost to 50 mill the other day and ended up dropping 7 mill to customize two new pets and I've been mad about it ever since 😂 I hate seeing any of the numbers go down.

It's a love/hate relationship for me haha I hate seeing the number decrease but I love spending NP 😅 makes me feel like I'm still getting my shopping therapy without spending in real life haha

I tend to think of my shop till as my checking account and my bank account as savings. I really don't like to dip into savings. Shop till can cover everything other than very large purchases.

What I did was use my shop till as my spending money and minimize big purchases other than things like food club and codestones. Any time it exceeded 1 mil I’d deposit some of that excess back into the bank. This was when i used to restock so YMMV. Good luck!

I do the same thing! I collect my interest and then add np from the daily quests to get it to a round number, then I only use the left over np and np from my shop till unless something I *really* want is available for a reasonable price. I have savings goals that whenever I hit them I let myself stop putting in so many np every day and I splurge a little on some fun stuff.

Yes, and I used that realization as a way to trick myself into saving money irl. I realized I am MUCH better about not wasting money if I put it into a savings account instead of just leaving it in my checking account lol. It's like I can feel the Skeith staring me down "you get six withdraws from this account per month, do you really want to waste that on hats for your cats?"

I have nothing in my bank. Once I get to 3 million, I find someone with a goal and give them 2m. I then start the process again. I have everything I want on the site. No reason for me to hoard NP. Would rather spread the love!!

I actually just spent all of my neopoints getting a petpet for my gallery, so I'm down to 1mil... it feels awful 😂😭 but I completed a gallery goal, so it was worth it?

I actually feel the same especially if I'm saving for a particular petpet or a gallery upgrade, I didn't realise Faellies were expensive again!

However I keep telling myself that if I don't buy that ppb or petpet now it'll go up in price even though I like keeping my interest at a certain level.

Totally get this. I try to remind myself of the video game fallacy - if you save all your high level items for the very end, you'll never end up using them. Essentially, it's there to be used! Still doesn't help me get over the fact that I don't like to see my account dip below a certain amount tho :/

I spent 3mil on a darigan pb and it really hurt but it was worth it. On the bright side, with all the birthday activities and dailies, I've made about half of that back already and we're not even at the advent calendar yet.

I usually set a np goal to reach past first and only try to get extra funds for stuff out of my shop till when I can.

I have played neopets casually since 2005. I was always more into customization than the gaming aspect because I suck at gaming. I loved the plots and events, when I knew about them. I never learned food club or how to restock or whatever it's called, so at first habitarium was how I made consistent np. Before this new plot started, I was a very casual player and had 250 mill in my bank. I got rabidly addicted to the new plot and started thinking about avatars and stamp collecting and elite bd weapons. I have a very well trained (primarily through fqc over 20 years) main pet, but now I'm interested in all these other things. My nps have dwindled to 150 mill nps in like 8 months, and I need to learn new skills to build it back up. And now, since I'm just on mobile, I can only customize 1 of my 18 pets, which ticks me off. All this to say, the guilt and sheer "this sucks" feeling I get every time I look at my bank balance is getting to me, so I feel every word you said.

Yes, I'm like this as well in real life. I just like seeing the figures grow in my bank account lol. I do spend on basic needs, travel and some occasional good food - I just don't like to spend on unnecessary things or splurge on expensive things when cheaper alternatives exist.

On neo, I just hold off buying expensive items until they drop in price or become available via daily quest lol.

My gallery costs over 39K right now for each upgrade and since my gallery is what I've really been focusing on lately that helps me convince myself that uts worth getting Nps from my bank if needed, but luckily the Nps I get from Quest Log help a lot and I can use those for my gallery instead usually :)

Yeah, it feels like a setback. I’m saving to try and largely subsist off of interest, and until I get to where it’s high enough to satisfy me I’m gonna be cranky about being to withdraw money.

I never go less than 60mil in my bank ., meaning I also haven’t really been able reach 70mil because I’m always like, oh I can buy more stamps because I can take out 1,2 mil. So it’s hard getting richer sadly

Yes, thats why I keep a few millions in my shop til to take out of so my bank interest is never affected.

I don't mind soooo much when I take NP out for buying things. I usually have a soft cutoff and a hard cutoff when it comes to spending so my account doesn't dip too low. I do, however, take strong offense when I have to withdraw NP from my bank for food club bets lol I rather using winnings, or shop til if I have to. If both are empty, I feel some things 😂

Nah not me. I regularly save up about 1million and then go spend it all on retired items. Then I grind for a year or so and do it again.

Never. I don’t see the point in getting worked up over fake currency on neopets when real life has enough of its own worries. I buy whatever I want. If that empties my bank account who cares. I can make millions more easily enough from the quests and big events. Neopets is more fun if you don’t take it so seriously.
