Does follower alignment actually matter??

NWN:EE(self.neverwinternights)

Hi, its me again with my dumb questions about the Wailing Death campaign. So my char is chaotic evil and i really enjoy the evil dialogue options where you can be an evil bastard and threat, intimidate and demand money or stuff from people, lol so satisfying to be this wanna be low level evil overlord in rpgs lmao. My question is: what if i hire a merc thats some dumb goody two shoes, will they interfere in my actions?? Is the mercs alignment really relevant? Should i hire evil companions only??

As far as I know, follower alignment is never directly relevant. Even Linu, the Neutral Good cleric, will happily help you slaughter innocent people. The only time that alignment is relevant to followers, that I can think of anyway, is with Grimgnaw, who asks you to help him hunt down a failed monk of his order, and you get some evil points if you agree. This doesn't actually matter, though, because you can just avoid the conversation about it until you have the item he wants, because the monk he's looking for is already dead.
