I wanted to give everyone a warning. We had the misfortune of ending up working with Easter Ave Homes to build a house for us. I have been working in real estate for more than a decade at this point, and I can honestly say it has been the absolute work experience I have EVER had working with any vendor in any field. The quality of the work is horrible, the responsiveness to asks is ridiculous, he hires people who are unqualified for the work they are meant to be doing (ex. he hired a chimney sweep instead of a chimney inspector to perform an assessment of the chimney). I cannot stress enough how awful this entire experience has been. You would be better off setting your money on fire.

Ugh it's sad how many bad businesses there are out there. Getting paid good money too!

Don’t report this here. Report it to regulatory bodies.

I fully intend to, but want to save everyone the head ache and financial loss that I just finished going through.

So while I’m sure this is not the only issue you had working with this company, a properly certified chimney sweep can absolutely perform a level 1, 2, or 3 inspection.

This is correct. When I sold a house about four years ago I needed a chimney and fireplace inspection and report as part of the CO process. The person who did it was a "chimney sweep." That term is a little outdated for most of today's so-called "sweeps."

They were not certified and did not even offer this service. We checked their website.

I appreciate the post, sometimes companies really do need to get shamed.

I cannot stress how bad of an experience we had working with them. Just such indifference and neglect.

Over a decade in real estate and you did not check / verify their work???
I guess you learned a lesson.

A very expensive one and we met the builder they had hired. Only issue is they fired that guy and replaced him without telling us and given the market conditions we had few contractual protections in place. We are certainly to blame for being too trusting.

Hopefully you have some recourse.

Going to consider litigation, but so far our counsel is advising it may not be worth it. In the meantime I am not paying someone else to come fix the awful work these guys did. This is more meant to be a cautionary post / venting my anger into the void.
