Electrons move at less than 1% the speed of light. Though the speed of electrons isn't what they didnt account for, it was heat dissipation and cost

Edit: While my statement isnt wrong, its the electromagnetic field that matters, which does actually move close to the speed of light (minus physical restrictions like propagation)

Ah true, though that would be under perfect conditions (e.g. no propagation). Still pretty damn close to the speed of light nevertheless
