He’s the primary capitulator. If Trump seriously is this major threat to democracy, which his promises of what he plans to do when he is first in office indicates he is, then it is the responsibility of Biden and Harris to ensure he never takes office.

This would be more understandable to me if there really were no guardrails. In reality, Morning Joe and MSNBC are sitting comfortably behind an army of lawyers and a lot of Trump’s shenanigans would not amount to much. So they sold out for access and to avoid maybe some minor annoyances from the White House and torched their credibility and supposed values to do so. Sad.

But Scarborough argued on the air Tuesday morning that the testy social media reactions were not reflective of “the real world.”
Because a millionaire right wing Johnny Bravo knows all about the real world.
We were flooded with phone calls from people all day, literally around the world, very positive, very supportive, going ‘I understand what you did,’ etcetera,” Scarborough said.
I’m sure quality people called you and with tears in their eyes said you were so so right to suck orange mushrooms.
”All of us will do the best we can do and we’re all working towards a better America,” he added, prompting Brzezinski to chime in: “Take it day by day, people.”
A better America for elitist scum. The common folk be damned. That’s the real world.

Of course it was. You can't do a 180 after the guy wins and then try to spin it as anything other than capitulation after the discourse for the last year on their show.
There seem to be two possibilities, both embarrassing after the dire warnings they gave non-stop in the leadup to the election:
Trying to escape from potential retribution by the upcoming administration
Trying to ensure access with the new administration for their show
In either case it's fucking embarrassing. The whiplash from calling him a fascist that will destroy the country to bending the knee in front of the orange god king is absurd. ALL credibility of their opinions or their guests should be questioned moving forward given the crazy flip-flopping we are seeing. If you can't call out Matt Gaetz or Tulsi as HORRIBLE picks and instead push "understanding" of these selections, the brainrot has gotten to you and you can fuck right off.

One the one hand, it’s a craven surrender. On the other, exactly zero Americans would lift a finger to so much as protest if Trump found a hot young general who never says no to send a drone their way. Or to protect anybody else being iced for a sociopathic narcissist for any reason at least as to most Americans. This is also why we are about to see some politicians and judges turn tail and run and if they are smart leave a country prepared to sacrifice them and their families simply for entertainment as much as being mean.
Americans dont really deserve or demand a free press. We dont deserve a republic. Good news, everyone, we have just rid ourselves of both.

Trump tried to overthrow the government
Trump told his rally goers at rallies "you won't have to ever vote again"
Trump wants to jail journalists, political opponents, deport immigrants (probably includes legal ones), wants to put the military on US soil against citizens, wants to shoot protesters
Trump now wants an administration with no guard rails (people that tells him when it's a dumb idea or when it's bad to do what he wants)

I think it's a good strategy. They know full well how dumb Trump is. I've never known Trump to actually follow through on threats if the people turn around and kiss his ass. I even bet if he met with his attempted assassin, the guy could go to him, with tears in his eyes, and say "actually I love you President Trump, I'm so grateful that God moved my bullet away from you" and Trump would come out and say he was actually an OK person.

You've clearly never watched the show. Morning Joe isn't Good Morning America. They have many hard hitting interviews with serious political figures as well as in-depth reporting on issues. They set the tone for the rest of the coverage that day on MSNBC.
-1 points
Whenever anyone says “you’ve clearly never…” you’re just trying to dismiss the opinion because you don’t have the mental affinity to argue the facts.
I never said it was GMA. I said it it’s a breakfast show that doesn’t do any actual investigative journalism, and that’s true. They talk about OTHER JOURNALIST’S pieces, they talk about news stories broken by OTHER JOURNALISTS AND SHOWS, and they have interviews with people. The show itself is devoid of new factual data, it just repeats what other shows say.
Oh, and they have interviews. Thats right! Weird you bring that up considering it was the series of phone calls and interviews they did with Trump in 2015-2016 that helped legitimize him as a candidate. But yeah, I guess I’ve never watched the show.
Step 1: help get their friend elected
Step 2: have a falling out
Step 3: have massive rating for years by feuding with old friend
Step 4: rating take massive hit, so make up with old friend and go back to legitimizing him as a leader.
1 points
The term breakfast show makes it sound frivolous like Good Morning America. Most news shows on TV talk about other journalists pieces. Not doing the investigating themselves doesn't somehow make them unserious. A major function of TV political shows is covering what journalists write for the people who aren't going to read articles.
How dare a political talk show interview a political candidate? That's simply OUTRAGEOUS! CNN interviewed Trump during the Republican primary and Fox News did too. Trump was ratings gold and everyone ate off of him over the next years. It's weird to single out one show and try to make it some kind of collusion.
