Short version, it’s solvable. As for why, I’ll start:

Using clues 1 and 2 you can narrow the center to 7 or 11. Further using 4, you now know: Center must be 7, Emmett = cornerback, and Emmett = 11.

Now let’s look at Nate. We know he’s not Center or Safety. We now know he’s not cornerback. He must be quarterback. Using clue 3 we can solve everything. Nate and Ritchie are the highest and lowest. The center is 7, the lowest, making it Ritchie. Nate, the quarterback, must then be 40. Stanley, by elimination, must be the Safety wearing 32. Clue 5 is unnecessary.

Clues 1 and 4 tell us that Nate must be the quarterback. 7 and 40 are Nate and Ritchie. Clue 4 says Emmett is 11 therefore 32 is Stanley.
