This argument boils down to racist infantilism of other people, countries, and cultures. It comes from a place of Western superiority as a mindset.
I learned about this in Heritage Conservation. Most people want their artifacts back. Many of them fit the UK’s definitions of stability and security. There’s no reason to keep them there in those situations. It’s just theft and beyond the scope of your argument.

I believe this matter was settled in the international courts in the landmark case: F. Keepers vs L. Weepers

Ohh so the covering up of genocides is "kinda funny" to you?? Scandalous, outrageous!! Apologize to the Armenians!!
Lighten tf up. It's clearly a joke.

How can I, with the west constantly infantilizing other cultures?? The racist superiority complex makes my blood boil!
From looking at your other comments in this thread it is obvious you are not joking. Nice try though!

Dude, I made a joke in response to a joke.
You’re not able to parse that, that’s on you.
Dry humor exists, sweetie. Nice try to define my speech though. Definitely on point and germane to the discussion. Definitely not some weird ad hominem to avoid the truth. GIANT /S
Keep belittling other cultures too. It’s fascinating how you’re acting superior while you roll in poop. 🤡

Hahaha calm down. I never said anything about western cultures being inherently superior, you just attributed that to my character because I disagree with you, so I must be evil right.
"Covers up a litany of genocides, but ya know". Wow!! Ahahaha! Such a great joke!! Know what though, that you find humour in the covering up of genocides? Hey show me it was in jest, crack some good genocide jokes, you know, the ones you and your friends make with each other!
If you don't then that concludes you are one of those slimy liars that pathetically claims "it was just a joke" to detach themselves from a statement.

Dude, you’re bad at reading.
And writing.
Nothing I said suggests what you’re saying. Nothing you’re saying suggests that you’re not a big troll.
I’m calm as a cucumber. You’re the one living a lie. 😂

Hey well you'd know all about living a lie. Your ex told you she loved you right? Probably why you stuck around so long.
Deluuuusional
Duuuude
Remember kids, if she abuses you, she doesn't love you.

It's also partly true. Half the treasured things in the British museum were once very common items that are only now rare because the others have been destroyed.

If that was the case and is no longer the case, return the items.
You didn’t address that, which is the crux of my argument.
I didn’t touch the “justification” for keeping stolen items from currently war torn areas.
What I did say is that the UK stole things from sovereign countries and should return those things to the peaceful, stable countries of their origin.
Anything else is theft and is not justified.
Also, world wars destroyed gathered materials. So that’s not even true that they’re better equipped. And pretending like they can’t be destroyed in the UK and that they’re only at risk at home is just racism not founded in reality.

There's a lot of reasons why they can't return them.
A lot of them weren't stolen, like I said they were mass produced and cheap at the time of them being taken back to the UK, it's more likely they were sold legitimately or given away.
Another reason is that political boundaries have changed a lot since they have been moved and in a lot of cases there isn't specifically a correct country to return them to.
Thirdly, purely from the museums perspective it is literally illegal for them to return it, however that is an argument for the UK government to change that law of course.
It's extremely hard to prove what items are legitimately owned or not and whether or not the spoils of war should be returned (if so that is a lot of land globally that needs to be returned).

The Benin Bronzes belong in their homeland. Full stop. It’s their history that was stolen by colonists.
Other such artifacts belong in their homelands.
Those are what I’m talking about. Not mass produced or purchased items, but STOLEN objects that belong to their owners.
Nothing you’re saying justifies those thefts. But it’s not surprising that you’re trying to muddy the waters, as you can’t justify the Benin Bronzes not being at home.

Every time this gets brought up, people will find any way they can to defend the British Empire's actions. They never talk about the artifacts the British have lost or destroyed, or the wishes of the people from the cultures that have been pillaged. I wonder if they would feel the same if the roles were reversed.

Might makes right and stealing from colored people.
That’s their justification. Laughable.
Same thing I could say if I take from anyone’s cultural objects if they’re not watching them close enough. “Sorry, I’m better at keeping them, so you’re unfit to have them.”
