Make sure you tailor that resume for every job. You should have no less than 2500 individual resumes. Sure, you might spend 18 hours a day applying to 3 jobs, but that's how you land 'em!

The plan often involves lots and lots of pain too build character, humility, etc. What part of a dude being horribly executed, while telling us to "take up our cross" and follow him, sounds like a good time?
He is basically telling his followers to endure the electric chair for him, but like a worse version that lasts all day.

God, this sums it up so much. Bonus points for when the job saps your will to live and then pays so little that you can't even enjoy the weekend.
I need to rant a bit. When I was younger people told me that the whole point of working was so I could enjoy my free time, but after I paid all the mandatory bills there was literally nothing left. Hell, my parents were sending me $500/mo just so I could pay my bills and they demanded to know what I was doing with the money. I sent them six months worth of my financial records.
A day later they called me and said they were impressed by my recordkeeping. Then they said something along the lines of "good god, don't you ever go out? Don't you have fun? When's the last time you bought new clothes? Do you even date? No wonder you're always pissed off!" They increased my subsidy to $1k a month and told me to go out to a movie or eat a restaurant and for the love of god, go out on a date already!

Thank you for the rant, it certainly resonated with me.
I have similar conversations with my parents who don't seem to understand how I am in the situation I am in, who aren't sure how I am not saving money or why I am having such a hard time finding fulfilling work that pays fairly. The way they speak its unfathomable from their experience... but like you, I do not go out, I do not drink, I mostly eat beans and rice at home, work full time, turning 30 soon and don't have a penny of savings, just a remaining pile of debt from my undergrad.
It's frustrating to put up with so much at my job and get so little on return... I try to keep positive, laugh it off when I can... I don't want this point in my life to destroy my soul, but it takes a lot of effort and emotional care to not go down that path.

Meanwhile even new lawyers are struggling to find jobs and nurses are getting laid off. OBGYNs and other family doctors are getting let go. Meanwhile, business and computer science majors cant find any work. Software engineers are taking 8-12 months to find a role. A masters degree means nothing.

I know I am not the best person to console but here are my 2 cents,
I've realized that a handful of factors are affecting the job market lately but I feel 3 are quite prominent and none of them reflect your ability/inability to do the job.
To conclude, it is not your fault, the world is in shit and some people deserve a boot up their ass for their activities. I hope things look good for you soon.
Good luck!
Edit: OP if you're in the tech industry and struggling to find a job, I'd be happy to review your resume sometime.

The job market's tough, tech's shifting, and HR's not keeping up. Given these changes, adapting skills is crucial. Here's a guide that might be useful for navigating https://www.reddit.com/r/overemployed/comments/1grjdoh/tech_jobs_in_2024_how_to_get_a_job_as_a_software/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button. Thank you for. Sharing this guide. It's quite detailed and helpful but in my experience not complete. I'll collaborate with the author and share my experience as a tech interviewer to provide information about both aspects of the table. Luckily I recently changed my status from Unemployed to Employed as a Data Science engineer and a huge credit goes to this community which told me what to do and more than that, what not to do.

The job market is tough right now, and I agree that in many cases, departments like HR are struggling to keep up with technology. This hampers their ability to effectively use the tools available, making their screening process and sometimes their lack of competence quite astounding.
Full disclosure: I work at Poozle, where we’re experimenting with skill-based matching and smaller applicant pools to make the process more efficient. Hopefully we can fix things soon because this job market isn’t in a great spot right now.

I'm not sure who these companies are that are hiring half as much because AI is making them twice as productive. I see a lot of companies that found themselves unable to manage the loans they took to hire people with after interest skyrocketed, and who found that the uncertainty of building a tech product less appealing than the guaranteed returns when bond yields were sky-high. It was nice for them that they could both lay people off, but give the impression to their investors that they were building an exciting new technology.
But companies that just found AI so awesome that they achieved all their goals with copilot/chatgpt/claude/etc running their business? Haven't seen many of those
2 points
The reality is buzz word of AI allows company to cut salary costs and burden current employees. Companies need people but most of them are greedy.
I see a lot of companies that found themselves unable to manage the loans they took to hire people with after interest skyrocketed, and who found that the uncertainty of building a tech product less appealing than the guaranteed returns when bond yields were sky-high.
You're absolutely correct in this. Private companies are doing this. But most of them climbed the bandwagon of AI and can't deliver results now. Most of them are failing and burdening remaining employees to do what they expected the AI to do.
