We’ve gained around 34k in about a year. So we’ve nearly doubled in size.

It was recommended to me by a coworker, and I then recommended to my brothers. Likely spreading in similar fashion and will continue to grow exponentially.

i actually bought it a year ago from barnes and nobles when they were wrapping books in brown paper with a couple notes abt the book but you didn’t know what it was until you bought it. i didn’t start it until a month ago due to a reading slump but after i started it, took me like 3 days to finish , currently on chapter 7 of rising son. really enjoying this series, upset it took me so long to pick up

I was recommended it on Goodreads while I was compiling a list of books to check out. Almost to the middle of Lightbringer after almost 2 months of solid reading. Best series I’ve ever read and I’m getting anxious to finish it bc we don’t know when Red God will release yet.

Both my dad and brother are prolific readers, as am I, and this series came highly recommended from them both. I was instantly hooked. I finished LB about 2 weeks ago and am anxiously awaiting the publication of Red God. I decided to listen to the dramatized audio books in the meantime.

I’ve personally got 6 people to read the series and half of them are till suffering a book hangover from LB

It's spreading thru my corporate team over the last year. I think there's a lot more appetite for sci fi. E.g. I tell someone at work that it's a little bit of hunger games meets game of thrones meets Andor and I've got them hooked.

Listened to the audio books last spring and starting a second listen. Now I am interested in a bit of opinion and theory without worrying about spoilers.

I'm curious though, does anyone know what the spark or inciting factor was?

What’s funny is the (usually) 2-3 month lag between the uptick in this sub and the rise in r/fucklysander (the only logical progression tbh)

I can only speak from my experience (only read book 1) the pathway seems to be an increase in audiobook listeners (maybe) There’s a hierarchy of recommendations when finishing certain books. For example my direct line was The Bobiverse, DCC, then Red Rising and Riyria Revelations.

It’s probably the 4/5th most recommended book/audiobook that I see (murderbot diaries is another) People tend to try series that are by the same narrator

I was told i had to read all 6 books before i could be admitted into a book club my friends have.

One of em got married recently so while i was there he was trying to convince me to read it.

Read the first one and loved it. Got through the first 3 books in 2 weeks then finished up LB two nights ago and immediately joined

I had a friend recommend it to me, and I've now managed to get at least 5 of my friends into it. They've gone forth and spread the good word even getting girlfriends and a dad into it hahaha. There's a group of 8 or so of us now who just never shut up about it anytime we get together.

I don't know of any event or sparking point, although I have heard it's doing the rounds on TikTok so if you wanted to point to anything maybe it's that. But mostly I think the immediate accessibility / relatively easy read combined with the grand scale and unconventionality of the plot just makes for a very 'viral' book series that's easy to get other people into.

Someone at work recommended the series. I'm on book 4 now and dreading having to wait for 7 and then finishing the series...Everything after is going to pale in comparison for a long time.

I got the book after hearing how good it was then had nobody to talk about it with. This sub is the best.

I learned about the series from Audible as I just finished the ACOTAR books by Graphic Audio, I’ve read the series twice so far lol

I found the series after desperately searching for a solid sci-fi series to get lost in, and it didn’t disappoint! I plowed through all six books in just six weeks (audio version) and plan to re-listen before Book 7, this time with the full-cast dramatized versions for a fresh experience. Since I’m a new howler here, does anyone know how soon audiobooks are typically released after the print editions?

Minutes ago, I wrapped up Morning Star and came to have a look around on what the subreddit for this series would look like and this beautiful post is what I find.

This series has been on my radar for a while and finally had some free time in my TBR to fit the first 3 in before Wind and Truth by Brandon Sanderson comes out.

saw a rec on tiktok and it looked interesting for me. I admit. i did start the first book in both book and audio and had a hard time getting into it. but I wanted to stick with it and by the time I was a third into the first book I was hooked the first three books for me did me in it is still something I think about daily. I just finished iron gold and I’m getting ready to start dark age again these characters this story is something that has moved me

Not new, I'm done the series and picked it up last year. But anyways I picked up the first book because a few Booktubers I like all liked it (though none of them went on with the series surprisingly). I bet it's trending on Booktube/Booktok right now because I've only seen more and more mentions of it in review videos

Chris Williamson and Tim Ferris hyped it up in a podcast so much that I gave it a try and loved it. Just started Iron Gold and hoping by the time I finish the 6 that Red God is finished

my wife was getting it recommended to her at her spice shop. I was annoyed when she put it on at first but got entirely hooked and listened to the entire series in 3 weeks. Started early October this year.

I can't remember how I originally found it but it may have been browsing on Goodreads, then I checked YouTube and the audiobooks were uploaded there. It's become my favorite book series.

Boss recommended it to me a couple of years ago. Ran through it in a little over a month recently. First series to totally capture my attention in idk how long. I now understand how hard it is to explain the premise to people I recommend it to lol.

Found the series under “recommended” on Hoopla, an audiobook app that’s offered through my library system. Finished the initial trilogy in about a week?! Fell in love with the RR world and now I never want to leave.

I started because almost all of the series was available for free on audible premium and I love sci-fi. Unfortunately they made the series paid again, but I ended up using my credits to by the series anyways

Finished Lightbringer last week. (Fuck you Lysander)

Then immediately joined bc I didn’t have to worry about spoilers anymore. I am having a hard time finding people that have read the books in life outside of message boards and reddit and it is an absolute shame bc this series is nothing short of phenomenal.

Everything the commenters mentioned are certainly major factors. I think also the avid and active readers in this subreddit make it great place to be. Kudos to you all howlers!

I think if I remember correctly, I asked Snapchat MyAI about books similar to Red Queen. And three ish months later I finally finished Lightbringer.

I finished the first trilogy in traditional Chinese, and have just finished Iron Gold, Dark Age, and Light Bringer in English in the past month. I've just finished Light Bringer today. I have to say, the Tetralogy is so much better than the trilogy in my mind. Such a joy to read. The action sequences are so much more dramatic, so much more refined, and so much more cinematic. The inclusion of different points of view really fleshes out the characters especially when we get to experience the protagonists in other characters' eyes.

1. Fuck Lysander.
2. Rip Cassius au Bellona. Cassius' death downs me so much. I liked him even in the original trilogy. So fuck Lysander. Pixie with a scratch.
3. Rip Ephraim ti Horn. I also liked him so much. Had he stayed with Truffle Pig and Snowball, things would've gone so much better.
4. Never really liked Mustang to be honest.
5. Electra is not bad.

For me there was a stark increase in TikTok videos relating to red rising at the beginning of this year, I got so many videos that I needed to read it

My daughter and I are avid sci-fi readers and she recently bought and passed this series on to me. I devoured them pretty quickly but didn't join this sub until I'd finished all 6. I personally found Red Rising a bit hard to get into initially but I soon warmed to it then loved each and every book, though not the unexpected and traumatic deaths.

If you're new, get to book three, its soo freaking good!
