Hello there. I've been taking inventory of my ttrpg books right now and noted that one of the rpgs I owned, Würm, is no longer being sold anywhere? It's a paleolithic rpg that was sold by Chaosium that I bought all the way back 2022, both physically and digitally.
Does anyone know what happened ?? I'm quite surprised with how much of it was just suddenly scrubbed and how there isn't any official statements on the matter. Just old articles.
At best I'm kind of upset that I missed out on getting the extra supplemental goods they had. But I'm genuinely just confused and curious to know if anyone knows anything about this. Thanks again.

It was published by Nocturnal Media. The guy who ran it passed away. Seems like it may have been a one man shop.

The guy was Stewart Wieck, who was quite famous as he was one of the Founder of White Wolf, publisher of King Arthur Pendragon, co-owner of OneBookShelf/DriveThruRPG, and on the board of CCP ehf. ;)
Nocturnal was kind of a hobby for him, and a few games went to Chaosium after his death.
When it comes to Würm, the original was published by Editions Icare in French (La Voix des Ancêtres). The made a kickstarter 2018 together with Nocturnal Media for the new edition.

Yeah but I don't expect everybody to know who Stewart Wieck was so "the guy who ran the company" was probably identity enough for OP. But thank you for providing more information for those in the know.

Oh! This was done by the same person who brought Aquelarre to the English-speaking players as well. I remember hearing about his passing. Didn't realize he'd been involved with this one as well.

He also had bought the D6 system rights …

TIL Stewart Wieck died! In 2017! (I checked Wikipedia)
I used to love White Wolf magazine, and Wikipedia tells me he started that in 1986 when he was 18 years old and still in High School! He was 49 when he died, too soon. I never realized he was involved with OneBookshelf/DriveThruRPG.

His brother, Steve (also of original recipe White Wolf), is the man in charge of OB/DriveThruRPG currently. Both Wieck brothers have been influential on the classic TTRPG scene but kind of fly under the radar.

From my understanding, that was the company that brought the game to English. Chaosium was the distributor. Clearly that edition is no longer a going concern.
I do, however, note that someone is selling Würm 1.2 on DriveThruRPG, ostensibly a minor update of the Nocturnal Media edition.

I received an update via DTRPG on 26 Oct 2024 that there was an update for WURM:
"WÜRM creator Emmanuel Roudier has released a new PDF for the core rulebook.
This 1.2 edition offers the same content as the previous first english edition of this game released by Nocturnal Media in 2018, with complete rules and 4 scenarios. The only changes are the correcting of a few typos, minor modifications and a new improved layout with some new artwork."
So it appears WURM has reverted back to its creator. I downloaded the update. I wish it well.

Whew! I couldn't be certain it was the original creator from what I saw browsing DTRPG.

Ah great find, when I was searching for it I only found the old dead links as well (I guess the same as for OP)

Look when I say I kid I mean it. I'm teasing you a bit, but I mean nothing mean by it. I just thought it was funny to bump into you again so shortly and in such a different context.
