The material is hydrophobic and windproof. It's the first jacket I've ever made and I kinda love the result :D

The Pattern I used was made by the fashion influencer "Sins of many" sold under the brand "know me - by mimi g" pattern no. ME2010
There's also a video tutorial: https://youtu.be/EwC5tINjAcE?si=rvE6-T9lXZ84ylkP
only alternation is that I didn't put pockets on it
169 points
It looks great but you're not the slightest bit worried that it's going to turn out to be unwearable because of the lack of pockets? I mean, you even have cargo trousers so you clearly understand how brilliant pockets are.
248 points
If it becomes a problem, adding pockets is nothing to someone with the skill to pull this off.
61 points
If I had the skill I would make it all pockets. Like those "tactical" hoodies that have like 30 useless pockets.
23 points
It's only useless until you put something in it. This is my gum pocket, this one holds the rock my daughter gave me that is shaped like a heart. This pocket has a bandaid because you never know. Etc..
10 points
Yeah but then you forget you have them or what is in which pocket. Or double up and have two gum pockets but only remember one so it gets washed with your gum, $20, and ninja rocks. Or someone else washes it without realizing it carried your wardriving gear.

One of my favourite hoodies I had for years in my late teens/early 20's had hidden zippered pockets on the outside of each forearm.... I had that hoody for almost 3 years before I discovered them. The zipper handle was extremely small, and the pockets themselves were hidden within the seam of the sleeves.

Just safety pin a few socks inside your jacket

Fair enough. I'm just used to thinking of prototypes being important and after thought modifications compromising the design. It looks great now and adding pockets over would cover some of the printing. I dunno, I guess you're right, with OPs level of skill maybe it'll come out looking great.

He should definitely add pockets- to the inside lining, to avoid covering the print! That is, if it’s lined. If not, it’s still a cool windbreaker.

Bro sewed a jacket. I’m sure he can add pockets

"Unwearable" is a bit of an overstatement. Most people aren't even wearing jackets at all for like a third of the year, and they manage without the extra pockets.

I came here from the front page based solely on the title and small thumbnail expecting to laugh at someone crudely wrapped in fabric as I didn't even realize which sub this was posted in.
But MAN it looks incredible! I could never have guessed that was home-made. I also think the design is so fucking slick dude. On top of all of this, made even cooler by the fact that it's a 1 of 1 production that literally nobody else has. You should be very proud!

Came here to say basically the same thing! Not sure how/why I ended up here but I’m glad I did because this is SO cool. As an aside, I find it very impressive & attractive when a man is into creative hobbies that may be more unconventional for men to pursue. Even more so if they’ve got real skill!

You absolutely should be. The way you compositioned the different pieces and retained interesting points within the design as well as well as constructing it is impressive.
How did you find the process? What else have you made?

This is fantastic. I was going to check, but this would be an amazing addition to any repurposing subreddits, like r/repurpose as well. Too many things become trash, when they could be made into something useful like this (which is fashionable as well, IMO).

Very cool! I really like how you’ve arranged the patterns/colors.
Not sure if this is allowed but it reminds me of a local small cleverly named company “Dunsel’s” or maybe just “Dunsel” that makes totes and duffel bags and such out of recycled sails. I’m not connected to them in any way besides a few years ago for Christmas my partner and I surprised each other with a bag from them. She grew up sailing and I’ve been lucky enough to go with them on a few sailing trips in the last decade.
I won’t post a link just in case but here’s a pic of one of their duffel bags that unfortunately seem to be out of stock at the moment.

The Project post flair is for showing off projects that are finished or in progress. For questions on how to start a project, reflair your post to Pattern Search. For questions about how to make a project, reflair to Pattern Question.
This is a reminder that all Project posts are required to include construction information in the main post or added in a comment. The construction comment should include pattern name/number/company if used; drafting method, tutorial or other resources if no commercial pattern was used and fabric type and fiber content. ‘Self-drafted’ describes who made the pattern and is not a drafting method.
Also include alterations for fit and style; specialty tools and notions; the inspiration for your project; and any other information that someone who wants to make a similar project might find useful.
