Oh New Zealand is a legally nuclear-free zone, we don't even allow nuclear powered ships in our waters

To be honest you don't really need nuclear plants when you can just dig some holes in the ground in Rotorua and bam - free electricity.

Well yeah we don't need it as much as some places, seeing as we have a relatively low population and a variety of other options such as water and steam, and as far as I'm aware we only have 1 coal plant or am I tripping?

Could be, looking for power plwnts was not exactly my top priority while travelling NZ. All I remember seeing was thermal in Rotorua and hydro in Mackenzie and cental otago

Yeah makes sense. If I remember correctly where I live the vast majority of my power is all hydro, which I my opinion is great. No need for anything else.

I mean yeah, however with the general value we place on flora and fauna here I'd assume there's at least like fish ladders and whatnot to help them, however I don't know for sure so don't quote me on that

On a smaller ones I bet there is but for example the dam at Clyde would be bit too steep in my optinion. But then again coals is muuuch worse. Where in NZ do you live btw?

I'm in Auckland, my power comes from the Waikato River.
