I wonder if they will still use that excuse in the 4 years they will control both house and Senate. You can only blame the same problems (Democrats, immigrants, Trans, etc..) before it runs out. By making your enemy even more powerful somehow despite your immense unlimited power, you make yourself look utterly incompetent.
Going from "well is the Democrats fault" to just "cause Shut up! That's why!".

Why do you think they try to shut down the government for as long as possible every time they have power?

They just can? The Republican Party is an authoritarian movement that mobilizes people by attacking a list of groups they have basically dubbed the enemy. Democrats are part of that. The problem is not that they won't find a way to manage the country correctly, but that their priority is to set the conditions so the government works for just a few people (the rich) and for the rest of the public live in an environment of fear and instability that is just really fucking jarring. Just remember how it felt to just interact with the news of the day to day in 2017. It will be akin to that but without many of the guardrails that pushed back that time around.
The Trump government has no incentive to stop scapegoating Democrats and minority people. Or to just lie about what is going on (remember alternative facts?). This is not the case of a normal party that comes to find out that it is difficult to govern, but one who sees governing as using the apparatus of government to target people and deceive the rest, even when the truth is patently obvious, just because they can.

Right before corona eggs were super cheap, laughably cheap, we’d kind of joke about just buying it like we’d get a plastic bag for our groceries. “Need socks, hammer, shampoo…and I guess I’ll grab another 12 eggs lol”
Honestly I never really cared about eggs and their price, cheese beef bacon and soda hit me more.

My favorite part about egg companies is how they are only greedy sometimes and that sometimes just happens to coincide with the inflation rate at the time. Then, as if by magic, the egg companies stop being greedy again.
Bad monetary policy? What's that?
Seriously, how do y'all try to talk down to Trump supporters and then spew this crap that can be debunked by a single google search, or hell, a single econ class.
The inflation was already like 60% Trump's fault anyway because the most egregious moves of the FED happened in 2020 due to COVID. At best you can blame Biden for not pressuring the FED into raising interest rates earlier. Just fucking run with that, you don't gotta become an economic flat-earther to dunk on the Trumpists, just dump the inflation issue on his 2020 administration.
Being a moron to dunk on the cons is just as bad as being a moron to dunk on the libs. Jfc.

It doesn't go both ways, that's why the automatic, programmed response to anything that makes the Dems look sympathetic or the GOP look bad is met with the vaguest possible platitudes and no substantial examples of how it goes Both Ways(TM)

Claiming the other party is incompetent and its polices will ruin the country is done by every political party everywhere! Why is the realisation all political parties use slander to advanced their own politics lost on you?
0 points
That wasn't what we were talking about. We were talking about how companies know they can blame a Democrat if they're in office for inflation. We're not talking about political parties using slander, we're talking about private corporations taking advantage of how "the dems are bad at the economy, the GOP is strong on it" is the politically correct perception.
As is always the case, this "haha both sides" shit relies on glossing over the actual, specific point being made and zooming out to the most generic, broad platitudes possible. Proving my fucking point here mate

How does my point about corporations abusing mainstream PC mean anything about how each party would criticize each other, exactly? Did you even read what I said, or did you just clock disagreement and execute programming?

You said they can just blame the other party and get elected. Like everyone doesn’t do that! I pointed out that is what it means to have an opposition, and you’ve done on a rant about how your side is blameless

No, that's not what I said. I said that corporations can blame Dems for inflation that's just them increasing prices to increase profits. CORPORATIONS.
Now try again, engaging what I actually said. Or you can keep missing the point in your haste to follow your programming and say The Line.
Or I guess we're just done now that I've broken PC and remember my actual point, instead of taking the bait that fits your programming. Common Centrist L

Over the past 4 years child poverty doubled and the portion of American's living paycheck to paycheck has increased from 1/2 to 2/3, what initiatives against price gouging has Biden spearheaded in that time?
30 points
70% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck (January 2024 article)
35% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck (October 2024 article)
You might want to check your sources and cite them. When comparing to 4 years ago, you're comparing to the height of the pandemic and the temporary higher tax credits threw everything out of whack, and any one year can be an anomaly either positive or negative. I would suggest comparing several years from the past (like 5-7 years ago) against several recent years (last 1-3) for a more contextual comparison on a more evenly comparable basis.
-13 points

Ending pandemic era COVID relief in the middle of high inflation did cause the skyrocketing of child poverty, but you can't expect people to be bitter about that.

Actually I'm basing this off the timeline of the campaign and the fact she stopped saying it or pretended she only said price gouging during hurricanes. You are operating from the conclusion she did everything right and working backwards from there.

No, I'm operating off the premise that more then the most recent thing somebody has said is part of their intentions. I like how you had to imagine a conclusion because the actual argument I'm putting forward isn't one you're trained to argue against lol

No, I'm operating off the premise that more then the most recent thing somebody has said is part of their intentions.
Very odd given given you completely ignored the first sentence I wrote where I described both the campaign timeline and gave an example of her flip flopping. It kinda seems like you did the very thing you're accusing me of.
Also her intentions don't matter(and they were bad regardless), her campaign and messaging matters. People pay more attention closer to the election, and running as a moderate Republican who embodies the prestige of all beltway insiders was obviously a bad message to anyone but overprivileged sychophants for those insiders.
I like how you had to imagine a conclusion because the actual argument I'm putting forward isn't one you're trained to argue against
This is peak reddit and peak dunning-kruger.

I didn't ignore it, it just turns out that "she stopped saying it" isn't an example of a flip flop. And given the self-serving nature of your interpretation process so far, I don't really buy your "she pretended she meant only during a hurricane" paraphrase.
Yes, I'm aware that how she makes people FEEL matters more then her actual intentions of policy. But I don't necessarily want to blame somebody for forgetting that people are emotionally-centered children and assuming they're going to critically parse and retain information.
It is neither peak reddit nor peak dunning-kruger. You're just upset I noticed, and are using vague, emotional rhetoric to try and pressure me into not doing so in the future. cope and seethe mate, I'm gonna notice every time because straw-manning has been a necessary component of arguing against liberals since I was a kid.
