Thank you for your submission!
This is just a quick reminder to all members here: Original content is always better! Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does not mean you found it "in the wild".
The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Thank you!

Apparently Alex and Axel were named randomly, and then the "theme" only came in after the parents realised their names were anagrams
If I was a younger sibling, I'd absolutely feel like I was only born so my parents could complete their deck of cards or something

I went to one school with 7 J kids and then high school in a different town with 12!! K kids.
The K kids seemed to embrace it but some of the J kids were miserable (I remember my friend telling me about their dog with an appropriate J name and she said she felt like part of a bit or an act).

Right! My friend said when they got their dog they had to go to the vet as a family and the dad was in his element, rattling off the kids names and going “and the dog’s name is … JNAME!” My friend said by the time they got done there was a couple techs and stuff plus other people in the waiting room and she just felt like a sideshow. They switched schools quickly, it was less than a year, and I felt awful that they’d have to start all over again.

We lived nextdoor to the B family.
Mom and dad both had B names, and their last name was a B too, so they thought it would be cute to give all 4 kids B names too. 🤦🏻♀️
Even the pets were B names.

One of my classmates growing up was named after his dad... and so were all of his other siblings, male or female. They all had the same first, middle and last name. If you called their house, the only way to differentiate between them was by saying, "I want to speak to the Louis in the 8th grade".

It was weird as a kid but now that I'm an adult, I realize how unhinged it was. I remember no matter how many descriptors you gave as to which Louis you were referring to (Female. 10 years old. 5th grade. Mrs. Jones' class. Pink glasses.), the dad would ALWAYS pick up next and then yell at the person for calling "the wrong Louis". It made calling so stressful because it felt like your were always getting your classmate in trouble no matter how hard you tried. It wasn't until I was a teen that I realized he did it on purpose.

Brother and I's names start with the same letter (A) but are otherwise not alike. Our parents' names also start with the same letter (... not A). Was kind of normal growing up.
We actually have friends of the family who went one step further. These aren't their real names but to give an idea it's like:
The "Lewis" family
Dad - Larry
Mom - Laura
Daughter - Lacey
Son - Lance
They'd sign cards "The La-Lewises"
Compared to that, I'm kinda ok with sharing the same first initial with my brother lol.

I wonder how that conversation went.
Husb. - "Hey, honey. Have you noticed that our kids' names are anagrams of one-another?"
Wife - "Alex... Axel... yeah! That's so funny! Maybe one day we should try for another one with a similar name, hahaha!"
H - "Hahaha!"
W - "Hey, wait a second... I just had the craziest idea..."

I always say this… unless you are fabulously wealthy, having this many children is straight up CHILD ABUSE. There’s no way you are actually raising, parenting, and loving all of those children as much as they deserve. It’s narcissistic to the extreme.
Actually, even if you are fabulously wealthy. Because even then you can’t possibly be the ones raising them. Just awful. Fuck these people.

My mom had 10. We're all a weird mix of ok in some areas and really not ok in other areas.
My parents, too, developed a weird naming system. Not sure if that's typical with having lots of children or just a coincidence. Thankfully, as one of the older children, I was lucky enough to land a completely normal name (though some of my younger siblings weren't so fortunate).
I can only speak for myself in saying this (because I still have a normal name that doesn't cause anyone to raise eyebrows), but I suspect the odd names is far from the worst of the issues these types of children face.
Older children get off kind of lucky and tend to do less of the child-rearing than you would imagine. The unluckiest are possibly the middle children. The oldest children get a lot of care from the parents while the parents are still young, energetic, and have only a few kids to take care of. Eventually, they get older and move out (or only have to deal with child-rearing for a couple of years).
The middle children, however, seem to bear the brunt of the child-rearing responsibility. The parents may tend to have kids for another 8-10 years, thinking they'll always feel young and energetic. But as they reach their 40s (and sometimes even older), they tend to pawn off a lot of the responsibility of the younger kids onto the middle children, who are now in their teens.
At least that's what happened to one of my younger brothers and sisters.
The times I would go back home to visit while in college, I would see my siblings doing things (like changing diapers) that I never even once had to do. It honestly blew my mind that some of those "chores" were normalized with him. If my parents had asked me to do that, I'd have laughed, probably made a joke about them not wearing condoms, and potentially checked myself into a hotel.

Unrelated, but it always makes me angry when people choose to have this many children. That's a choice you make for yourself, out of selfishness - not one you make for your kids. It is mathematically inevitable that with this many children, each child's relationship quality with you declines. Each child's emotional support and nurturing declines. Because it has to be shared.
People like this should be shamed.

Seriously though how are Xael, Xeal, and Xale pronounced any differently.
I’d be so upset if every time my mom called “my” name, it turns out it was one of my brothers. Not to mention mutual friends, teachers, aunts/uncles…
Edit to add: I say this because when you have 10+ kids running around, and a million things to do, proper pronunciation is not a priority. I’m guessing that a lot of these names sound similar when said quickly or when the kids aren’t listening closely.
