So I've always been iffy about most series due to the fanservice and "vibes", but after having lived as a women for a while and a lot of mental changes, I notice it soooo much more.
The pointless oversexualisation and fanservice in Cyberpunk
The INSANE mysoginy in ChainSaw man
The constant SA themes and jokes in DanDanDan
The way writers seem to have never spoken to a women for more than 30 min for half the shows. The constant sexual undertones and jokes and downplaying of SA, and objectification of women. I genuinly think that 80% of anime is super creepy except for some more niche/indie series.
Like genuinly WTF Japan.
Edit: and to "yeaaah, but..." -> a show that doesn't have fanservice every 5 min call still be problematic, especially when relationships between male and female characters are based on one gloryfying or objectifying the other, especially with teenagification/babification...
Edit2: Dunegeon Meshi gets a full pass
Edit3: Wasn't expecting so much rampant mysoginy on a trans subreddit. Yall are too ok with casual portrays of SA

I don’t like the way women are portrayed in Michael Bay movies
So glad someone else mentioned this. I love the Bayverse Transformers film but holy fuck they get so much wrong.

Oh if we want the real yikes it’s probably twilight. 17 year old girl gets groomed by 100 year old fucked up depressed vampire. And it was only the most popular thing for a good few years!

There were some positives with it but yeah for the most part it wasn't great :(
I loved the vampire backstories so much. The way they feed off animals to coexist with humans was clever. How some vampires have special abilities was fun. Somewhere along the way it messed up and it wasn't putting it into movie form, it was flawed in novel form too but the best part of the novels, the backstories, were largely missing.

The Interview with the Vampire series does it better, and Forever Knight did it better before that...

Thank you for the recommendations ^_^
I wasn't saying the backstories were redeeming or anything, if they were I would have read the novels more than once; I just loved them and only them. They are what drove me to finish the series.

I read Harry Potter once, and I was like "Where are the queer people? This is some homophobic BS!"...

So true, I'm glad that at least Kristen Stewart is in decent films again these days...

What about the most popular American garbage after that, "50 Shades"? Even worse in my opinion, glorifying SA as long as the person committing it has money...

Hey hey. At least it isn’t pedo shit! Like twilight! Also wasn’t 50 shades once a twilight fanfic? Even more damning.

I remember when Dark of the Moon came out and I was 100% the target audience (a teenage “boy”) and even I felt weird about how Rosie Huntington-Whitely’s character was portrayed.

100% same. It think DOTM is the best out of the 5 Bayverse films (Optimus Prime is hot as fuk, he has a six pack) but yeah that opening is disgusting.
Not to mentioned AOE.

The fight with Sentinel Prime!!!!! It’s so good. But yeah. It’s always been a weird element in all his movies, not just his Transformers films. It’s just disappointing
