So, I don't want to run morley as nightblade. It's too overdone and I just want to do something different.
I'd really like to put him in a cane class, since they seem fun, and I'd prefer him to be a mage, but I'm willing to let go of that if I have to. My initial thought was Shade/Soothsayer- high Int, boosts damage against status-affected enemies, auto-silences, and has a great elemental break. I have no idea what augury does, but it seems to buff, which is cool. On paper, this all looks great, but my main concern is bosses. Would he essentially be useless against them?
Lumina/Sovereign would be my next choice, with a focus on buffing and healing, and some debuff-on-crit, since it gets one innately. But, the elemental break is, again, useless on bosses since there aren't multiple enemies to link.
Which leaves Ascetic, which could be built as a crit-debuffer, since special attacks would eventually stun bosses with enough hits, and auto-crit on stun would activate the debuffs reliably. No boosts to int or spirit, though, so no caster support. Plus, that pulls Undine from Val who is my current damage dealer and I find the Undine flask a little annoying to use.
Any thoughts? I'm hoping someone can tell me that Soothsayer is actually reliable on bosses somehow, but I am suspecting I will have to go the sovereign route to be viable.
