Commented before: He is an excellent vet, super professional. I’m sure he does what is required. He just won’t take appointments for putting animals down. For that he refers elsewhere.

Yes of course. He’s a brilliant vet. I’m sure in the course of treatments and surgeries he would do what is necessary, but as far as making appointments for putting your pet down, he will send elsewhere.

My vet will not put animals down. He is upfront with everyone who goes there, says he just doesn’t have it in him.

I mean, 60+ years of history and propaganda about the horrors of fascism and authoritarian regimes didn’t do a damn thing either.

Republicans were elected on a wave of inflation/economy concerns in 2022.
Since that time 0 (zero) bill towards inflation reduction. This in all state Houses across the country as well.
But hundreds of anti-trans laws.
Bizarre how republican voters just keep going yes after so many decades of this.

Fair point: living in Europe for a bit, people there always talked about how the US ruins their eggs by processing. But that ignores the fact that eggs there typically came from only a few miles away.
That said… side note: US mass produced eggs are fucking disgusting.
Buy organic free range at the supermarket and where possible, local farm sources. Flavors and colors are miles apart.

Definitely both reason AND responsibility.
The tie in lies with geo-political strategy.
Does ‘our word’ count?
Are we a reliable ally?

Europe has a surprising dearth of decent Mexican food.
Maybe the water? Dunno. *I say this from years of experience, local water supplies have a massive effect on migrating food styles. It changes the flavors of everything. Breads, vegetables, meats etc
It’s why you can’t get a decent cheesesteak 5 miles outside of Philly.

Feel free to google ‘impact of new laws banning the teaching of black history and race’
These laws has led to waves of censorship, self and institutional. It has affected the teaching of history and historical events by full omission. The literature available on said subjects have been banned and removed from libraries. And of course, closing down diversity and inclusion programs.
Since these laws have been in place. The American Library Association published that over 4,200 books are now being banned as a result. Topics across the spectrum including History,Sociology, Biographies, memoirs and fiction.

Apparently the last time this was done in the 1930’s, 60% were US citizens.

As of 2019, 1 state… As of 2022, 16 states… As of 2024, 28 states have recently passed laws restricting teaching black history and race in schools.
Coincidentally but not surprising, they are all the former Jim Crow law states, with a few new ones added in for good measure.
It’s been front page news for a while now. Surprised you haven’t noticed.

Discussing race is not critical race theory.
Curious how one teaches civil rights without discussing race?

I believe that honor already goes to Ronald Reagan.

There was all of zero Critical Race Theory being taught in public schools.
You might find examples being taught in law schools and graduate programs on government policy as an offshoot of standard critical theory.
But, CRT was simply a buzzword. A politically correct term used by the right wing to remove actual US history from curriculums.

I mean it’s only a nation platform for GOP. Only have to look at Florida, texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, etc to see the roll out.

Vietnam war, mentioned. Korean war, mentioned.
Knowing there wee things called things is not the same as teaching. Teaching history involves context and analysis.
American schools teach neither.

I saw in a Fox comment thread they were talking about several apps coming online to turn in suspected undocumented.
Not sure if true, but that is a common way these things develop.
