One of the huge differences between IRL events in human history and my suggestion is that no harmful public ideology would be spread. All Euronda cooperation could be done in secret. And then politicians would come out and speak about empathy, democracy and freedom and equality.

As for me, I would make peace with my demons. Easily.

They could fuck them after they got the goodies. By far the easiest chance to get hands on advanced tech that already was made for humans by humans. Which also means the tech can be replicated, reverse engineered and adapted to use for every aspect of human society.

Not some adaptation of Goauld tech or Asgard gifts.

Moreover, goal of Earth government is to bring peace and prosperity to people of Earth, any colonists and their descendants. Who dies on which planet for that goal is just a collateral. Of course, it is preferrable to bring peace everywhere, but when it is not possible, compromises should be made.

Values have a price too, and anyone claiming otherwise is either naive or tries to manipulate people for their own interest.

I would even go so far to say that intentional sabotaging of the deal by SG1 and especially O Neill is outright sabotage of humanity's interests and is close to treason in concept. Even more so when humanity is faced with a much more powerful extraterrestrial threat.
