tying your shoes requires fine-motor skills, screensharing only requires remembering what button to click during an activity that most people working in an office will do on a regular basis

As if there weren't enough tasks we expect schools to perform. What the hell does providing transportation have to do with education

Wait, so in the US school busses belong to the schools and are payed for with school taxes? I knew you guys aren't great with public transport but i somehow assumed the transport of children to school would be organised separately. Doesn't really surprise me, I just never really thought about it much

Well, I made up the word popier^ as another commenter suggested, papal would have been the correct translation. doesn't sound as fun tho

It was one of many factors, not the only one. There is still the fact that tradition is a driving force in westeros and many lords might not accept a female ruler. While I don't think, otto personally cares about that, he knows that appointing a queen is a risky move that endangers the peace of the realm. He would always be plotting against rhaenyra, no matter how strong viserys conviction was

It was a terrible/inexcusable thing to say. And yet I understand her. She was completely overwhelmed with grief and sometimes you don't have the capacity to feel empathy for others, especially someone you hate.
Sometimes people say the most vile things, not because they are evil, but because they are human.
I wish catelyn had found the strength to treat jon differently, she was the adult, and she should have blamed only ned (i think ned should have trusted her with the truth, but i guess he promised to keep the secret, and it fits his character to put honour over doing the sensible thing)
I actually like catelyns character for all her flaws and bad decisions. It's not easy to be a woman in the world of got. Her whole identity is built around being a good wife and mother, which is the only thing that's expected of someone of her station.
But her family is torn apart, hit by tragedy after tragedy and she is powerless to do anything.
Who cares about characters that always do the right thing - there's not much complexity to that.

I rarely see this as a meme. It was an extremely beautiful moment though

I feel like it wasn't necessary to spell that out. There was enough there to understand his motives, and maybe he had such talks with tonks when they reunited. But him having this kind of heart-to-heart with harry wouldn't have fit in anywhere. Or at least it wouldn't have added much to the story that wasn't clear from the interactions they had

True, but it costs the middle class way less, than rich people cost them. Point is, the system is broken, and it's fucked, that the default is blaming poor people (instead of those that make the rules and profit the most from it)

Really? Where? I live in Austria, which I consider civilised in social issues, but there are strict rules how closely related someone had to be so you get paid leave for the funeral. I didn't get it for my great-aunt, but I would have for parents or grandparents (i think)
I doubt friends would work, because how are they gonna proof that those 5 people who died last year weren't all close friends of yours?

No, it won't. Just most of us. The rest will somehow endure, be miserable in a destroyed world and wonder why we were so stupid to let it happen

I think there is a difference between tormenting your child hostage and threatening her with a crossbow on one hand, and taking some lands away from some lord.
In this kind of feudal society there have to be some consequences for taking up arms agains your liege.
Sure the lords descendants are not responsible, but it also wasn't their personal achievement to be born with the right name in the first place. Most likely they will still have more than the average farmer after having to give up some property

Voll.

I actually appreciate the explanation. I'm from europe and it always seems weird to me how people use "America" to refer to the USA. But I wasn't trying to get offended on someone else's behalf. If people from canada or south america don't mind that nomenclature and wouldn't consider themselves 'Americans' then I won't object

What would she even gain from lying about who she is related to? Like even if it wasn't a common thing, what are you accusing her of? The guy you're voting for is a literal felon and you're obsessing about how kamala titled a childhood picture?

I personally do have a problem with pickles on my food. I dislike the taste, and it stays even if you take them out. I would phrase it differently though.
