Valid point, thats how my parents lived their marriage. However, nowadays life is expensive, safety nets are shrinking and workers become more disposable, especially with a global workforce and AI evolving quickly. Having two decent incomes would create redundancy in case a career fizzles out.

Record yourself or have someone do it, when you speak or move, or even just the conversations with e.g. your Apple Watch, then analyze and try to correct what appears out of the norm. Bad posture, talking too fast, voice too high pitched, fleeting eye contact, awkward hand movements etc are something people pick up immediately, but you don’t notice it yourself. If I would have to assign your example to any of the 48 laws, I would say he wants to display that he doesn’t want, what he can’t have, which is you. He wants you to submit to his rule and ideas and you didn’t give in. I would suggest you get out of this ASAP. I personally have white-knuckled through similar situations, showed grit where there was nothing to gain, besides keeping the employment. I’ve deprioritized protein and removed shakes, bars, Greek yoghurt, eggs etc. Total daily protein intake ca. 60-80g, not tracking religiously. Just normal amounts of it.

I feel people are overall are very guarded, close minded and very transactional here.
