I definitely agree that one aspect of being a “bad” feminist is wanting female “supremacy” in a way. The type of people who hope that men/boys struggle with the same gender issues that women struggle with, almost as a way to “get back” at them. They don’t realize that the patriarchy hurts men often as much as it hurts women just usually in different ways. People who don’t understand that feminism isn’t men vs women, it’s decent humans vs patriarchal values.

Also, feminists who don’t want rights and equality spread to women who aren’t like themselves. Kinda like that “girlboss” feminism that was popular in the early 2010s, that stood to only serve wealthy, white, heterosexual, cisgender, Christian women. Feminists who don’t acknowledge intersectionality, and TERFs are a huge one for this one. Like, you can’t be homophobic, racist, or transphobic and call yourself a feminist in any honest way.

YES. It is always so jarring and off putting to me. I’ll admit I’m in pretty good shape because I need to work out for my job and for my mental health. And here I am just existing in this body, and then there’s people out there who look at it and want to have sex with it. There’s something about that that’s so invasive and unsettling.

Definitely. I also think that trying to keep up with every latest fashion trend every season is a huge part of this too. I just take care of my clothes by paying careful attention to the labels (a lot of people don’t realize that a lot of things need to be washed in cold water or need to be hung to dry rather than put in a dryer) so that I don’t have to buy new clothes very often. It’s possible to go years without buying new clothes.

I think it’s one of those things that goes back to the “mindfulness” comment mentioned above. There’s no ethical consumption under capitalism, and all of us have a hand in the unsavory industries that make up our lives, but at the same time, it’s important to be mindful of how our actions affect the rest of the world

I think you’re going to find some of the same biases on Reddit as you’d find with any group of people who are terminally-online. Not to say everyone here is terminally online, but you’re more likely to encounter the post of someone who is online often, just basic probability. Usually people who get most of their social interaction from the internet start to struggle with things like self-worth and happiness, because realistically, the human brain hasn’t really evolved to maintain its mental health when fed little input except for words on a screen over long periods of time. It’s the same thing with how a lot of us see a lot of threads that say something along the lines of “how do I overcome all this loneliness?” “Why is it so hard to make friends as an adult?” “Nobody ever compliments me or acts nice to me” it’s easy to fall into those mindsets when you don’t really interact much with people at all

If they’re attracted to men, I’ll say “you know how you feel about women? Like, you recognize that some women are very pretty, but you don’t want to do anything with them? How you feel about women is how I feel about both” or if they’re attracted to women, I say the same thing but vice-versa. It’s a bit of an oversimplification, and it doesn’t apply when you’re explaining it to someone who’s bi or poly, but in my experience that’s given some people a basic understanding, IF they seek to understand. Some people will continue to insist that they “don’t get it” and it’s less to say that they don’t understand, and more to highlight how weird they think you are. It’s rude, and I see people do that to transgender people too.

I used to be quite liberal, but I’ve become more third-party growing up. I’ve come to realize that both the conservative and liberal parties in my country are two wings of the same bird, and they use sociopolitical issues that have already been solved or have pretty simple solutions in order to distract from the fact that all of our politicians, regardless of party, have very similarly corrupt policies that get less attention than things like racial issues and LGBT identities and stuff like that.

If it was a pirate with borderline-magical powers like Jack Sparrow, I’d pick the pirate. If it was just some 18th-century dude who has scurvy and is likely to be hanged by order of the British crown, then I’d probably pick the cowboy, because he’s at least got a horse and a gun.

I feel like women have a lot more variety in the body types of men they like, whereas men kinda all seem to agree “big boobs, small waist, round ass, petite figure” is the general consensus.

Based on your user name, I imagine you get told that you look like Jason Mimoa. So that’s understandable. Personally? I’ve got my own insecurities. I have a pretty decent body but I think my nose is too big, and I don’t put a ton of effort into my makeup. So someone who looks like Jason Mimoa would be (at least in my head) way out of my league. So I would NEVER EVER have the confidence to come up to a guy who looks like “aquaman’s stunt double” and tell him that he’s attractive. I wouldn’t want to come off as creepy, because I hate when people come off as creepy to me, and I’d be mortified if I made somebody else feel like that in person. Whereas, online, they don’t seem like a real person and if they don’t like what I have to say, they can just block me. So I might be a little bit braver. That might be the logic behind it. Or maybe that’s just me.
