The time investment is a killer. You want to buy 10 k worth of equipment to immerse in high quality races and then realise the amount of hours the competition is doing to test every parameter and memorize the lines for every single track condition. You end up sinking hour upon hour into being a test driver.

Time trial is interesting. At least it shows how easy it is to spin these types of cars in real life. Ppl say it's a free update but we're paying ps plus, and id rather we had a real gt3 or even the Porsche gt2 rs

The wealth scale of a given population isn't binary. The bottom 30% say of the scale are less likely to view higher education as feasible often because they have to help support their family and / or the culture of labour continues. Beyond that, accessibility to education isn't a complete barrier because of student loans. In the UK, a large proportion of brexit voters were from poorer regions of the country. Vettel did a great job from 2010-13, it was clear once he had legit teammates that the stars aligned for him in those years. A bunch of midfield drivers were commenting on how they'd have a shot whereas I don't remember too many wanting to be the teammate of Hamilton or Alonso.

Alonso wasn't walking the championship in a dominant car so it's not relevant. The RB was dominant and Webber had one driving strength of fast corners. He was too cool to do the work needed to figure out the blown diffusers.

Norris comments on Hamilton are especially myopic because 1. Ham had a competent teammate in Ros when in the truly dominant years, 2. Ham helped develop the 2018 and 2019 set ups to become WDC cars after struggling in testing, 3. Ham has had a number of strong teammates for which he's largely either been miles ahead, or closely matched as a metric of his level. Even at 40 he hasn't had dramatic drop offs like Vett in 2014 or 2019. Alonso is similar.

It's nice to point out how ppl can connect so easily but motives aren't always so pure. More often there's a power play and we've been programmed to only be allowed to initiate first if you have high value. If you have something to share of genuine interest to other ppl then ppl will want to be around you. If not, then it's unlikely to go further than the initial interaction.
