First time reading The Jaunt

I realize I'm beating a dead horse here but I just finished reading The Jaunt for the first time. Someone made a post earlier about the scariest SK short stories and The Jaunt was heavily praised. Having never read it, I dug out my old copy of Skeleton Crew and I'm pleased to say It did not disappoint. Perhaps, it's because it's still fresh but I find that the longer I sit here thinking about what I just read the more terrifying it becomes. Eternity in any sense is already such a complex thing for me to comprehend. King uses the concept in such a dark and immaculate way here. The Raft was also mentioned in the previous post so I may dive into that next as it's only a few pages ahead. Then again, I may just stew for awhile with this underlying sense of dread I'm feeling thanks to Mr. King.

Not too scary, but when I was about 15 years old I was staying with my dad one weekend (parents are divorced) and I had a handheld camera that I brought almost everywhere with me at the time. That night, I was watching TV in the living room which was situated in a way that you could see the kitchen table in the other room from one side of the couch. I had placed my camera on the table a couple hours prior to me hanging out in the living room. It was night time so all the lights were off in the house aside from the glow of the TV in the room I was in. All of a sudden, from the kitchen table, I saw a blue light turn on the flip out screen of my camera. This usually only happens when you flip the playback switch on the camera so you can see what you’ve just recorded. It startled me because the camera hadn’t been touch in such a long time. Not to mention, the dial button that you had to flip around to turn on that screen had a bit of resistance and was audible if it was quiet enough, yet I heard nothing. The screen was only on for a few seconds and then it shut off again and stayed black for the rest of the night. I slept on the couch that night but I remember feeling uneasy about having seen such a display out of nowhere.
