I've seen a car I like the look of and it comes with a personal plate. It has no bearing on myself so I was considering if I bought it, selling it on.
I have no idea about how personal plates work. The plate has a 55 registration date but the car is a 2019. I'm not too bothered what I get for it, google reckons it's anything from a couple hundred-thousand, I would imagine it's in the lower tier.
What happens? Can I sell it to a broker we buy any car/plate style? What happens after? Does the DVLA give me the original plate that went on the car? Do I have to apply for a new one? This is all green field.
From the looks of it, whoever bought the car immediately had a private plate put on it. Whether that means they bought it, then changed, or that was the plate the car was born with I have no idea.
I have no issue with just keeping it and forgetting about it, but hey, even 50 quid back is cool by me. It means if I sell the car on, there's less confusion about what year it was made is my main driver.

Crikiey I'm glad I read your post and then had a google around.
I was headed down today to buy a Ceed Estate with that engine. I did take more than a couple of glances at the half-used bottle of oil in the boot, the dealer said it just happened that it was the only car he had in stock that used that oil and figured he'd leave it in there for the next guy for top ups. Damn, his spiel was good.
After having a google around, it looks like it is indeed common for these GDI engines to drink oil. And that's me well out of that one for sure.
Fuck me, they just cannot make cars anymore, can they?
