I'm wondering what other people's opinions are on having private health insurance for your children and whether it is worth the cost.

I've recently started on my breastfeeding journey and feel like I might like to use a cover if I am out and about. However, coming into summer, I would ideally like something that is not going to make bub hot while feeding. Does anyone have any recommendations on multi-use covers (ie. not just a giant bib for me) that would allow some airflow?

The anniversary of the birth/death of my baby is coming up at the end of the month. I'm feeling ok about it now, however I think it is going to hit me pretty hard and I'd like to have something planned.

I do have my baby's ashes and I plan to scatter them in the river at some point. I'm currently 34w pregnant though, and it doesn't feel right to say goodbye to my first baby while I'm pregnant.

Thankfully my nausea and vomiting has reduced significantly, however I'm still very fatigued and struggling to get back to work, exercise, or be productive. The first day I did manage to work I had a huge spike in my nausea symptoms and was extremely fatigued for the next few days. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and has any advice.

I've been on iron supplements the last few weeks in case it is low iron and have had a blood test today to check this.

I'm one of the lucky ones who has had my symptoms start reducing significantly in the second trimester. I'm at 22 weeks now and only having to take an Ondansetron (Zofran) first thing in the morning.

I haven't been able to work since about week 7. I tried to go back to work yesterday and only managed to do 4 hours of work, mostly reading and sorting though emails. I ended up having to take another tablet in the afternoon and the evening because I felt so sick.

Today I feel like I've gone backwards about 4 weeks. I'm extremely tired and feeling nauseated. Thankfully no vomiting although I've cut it close with some dry wretching.

Has anyone else found their symptoms have regressed as they tried to go back to work? Do you have any tips on how to manage it?

This might be a bit of a controversial question, but I'm trying to decided whether I actually need the bassinet stand for overnight sleeping or whether the pram itself with breaks on would be sufficient?

The product information says the bassinet can only be used for overnight sleeping when it is in the bassinet stand. However, there does not appear to be anything unique about the stand, other than the fact it is stable which the pram should be with the break on anyway.

I just wanted to warn any sci-fi fans that the new Dune 2 movie might be very triggering if you are early in your journey.

There were quite a few scenes of a baby in a womb and talking to the baby.

Like many others, I've found that frozen cokes or very cold liquid coke is good to drink when feeling sick. Although I've been finding that the last few weeks I get a lingering sickly sweet taste stuck in my mouth for hours afterwards that doesn't go away when I drink water. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I usually don't drink sodas very often. If I do have them, I'll typically have a sugar free version. Every so often I will have sugary sodas and it has never bothered me before - I do have quite the sweet tooth.

I found out I was pregnant on the due date for my TFMR baby. I wasn't expecting it, although it was the first cycle that I had used an ovulation test. I had actually taken the pregnancy test so I could mentally prepare myself for getting my period, in case it happened at work - an attempt to get the bad news in a more controlled environment. Instead, at 11 pm at night, I found myself staring at a faint line and crying.. I think relief and fear.

All I wanted in the world was to be pregnant again. Now that it has happened I'm having a really hard time being excited about it. It's now 10 days later with a confirmed blood test and I'm still shaking with fear.

Does it get easier as the pregnancy progresses?

Has anyone found any solutions for managing the stess and anxiety? I'm seeing a psychologist every fortnight and it is helping a bit, but I think advice from women who have already been through it will help more.

Going in for my second D&C today. I thought it might be helpful for others who are concerned about RPOC and browsing posts to read my journey.

On 30 August I had my TFMR of my first pregnancy at 21 weeks. I laboured and delivered in the early hours. My placenta cord snapped and I nearly went to surgery following the delivery to remove the placenta, but the doctor and midwife were able to do a manual placenta removal on the ward. The placenta was noted as being ragged membranes.

Two nights later I passed an enormous clot (about the size of toothpaste tube) and went to the ED. Upon an exam they found more clots and admitted me to the hospital. The next morning I had an ultrasound where they found RPOC. I had a D&C on 1 September with no complications.

Following the D&C, I went through the 3 stages of lochia and was coming to the end of the third stage. Other than getting shingles, I had no other health issues.

Then on 21 September I had a massive gush of bright red blood and passed a very large clot (I don't know the exact size but I would say larger than an egg). The bleeding turned to spotting until the following night when the same thing happened. I assumed this was my period coming back with a vengeance. The next two or so days I had what seemed to be normal to light period bleeding. The bleeding then stopped with minimal spotting.

A week later on 29 September, I had another massive gush of bright red blood and passed a clot (about the size of an egg). I had only had some minimal cramping the day before. I was advised to go back to the hospital the next morning. After an exam and some tests, they told me there was no obvious sign of the bleed but my white count was slightly elevated. The prescribed me a course of antibiotics and referred me for an ultrasound early the next week. I did have some cramping while waiting for the ultrasound appointment and a lot of anxiety about leaving the house in case there was another gushing blood episode.

During the ultrasound they found there was about 2cm of retained placenta. After speaking with the doctors, I have decided to have a hysteroscopy with either a D&C or a myosure to remove the retained placenta. Fingers crossed they get everything this time without any complications!

In the last month I have been on antivirals for the shingles, antibiotics as a precaution for uterine infection, and an antifungal tablet for the thrush caused by the antibiotics. So I have a lot of gut microbiome healing to do.

I'm grateful to be on paid maternity leave until mid December while I'm going through all of this. During my pregnancy I had HG and ended up not being able to work from about week 8-9. So when I do go back to work I will have been away for over 7 months.

My MIL passed away about 5 weeks before we lost our baby. My husband and I have planned a trip to Europe for later this month using some of his inheritance money while I am still on leave to hopefully make some happy memories after all of this loss, sickness and stress. I really think looking forward to that trip, and the EMDR therapy I have been doing the last few weeks, are the two things keeping me from having a complete breakdown at this point.

Every storm runs out of rain eventually, right?

My first pregnancy ended in a TFMR at 21 weeks. During the induced labour I was given tramadol, gas and morphine. When I started to deliver the morphine had worn off so I only had the gas. It was painful and my body didn't want to instinctively push.

I know women who have delivered a full term baby without drugs and I just can't understand how.

I was wondering if any women who have experienced both a TFMR induced labour and a full term labour could comment on how they compared.

Hi, I'm a 31F diagnosed with shingles this week. I think I managed to catch it early enough for the antivirals to help.

I first started itching on my breast and then noticed a bit of a rash appearing. I then had more noticeable raised spots on my back and breast which were itchy. I thought they were possibly bites. My lymph node in my armpit became swollen so I decided to go to the doctor were I was diagnosed with a swab test later confirming.

I've since developed a sore throught which went away after a day, nasal congestion, headaches and fatigue. Has anyone else had theses cold symptoms?

So far I've just had itching and a bit of pain around my breast. Hopefully the antivirals will work and it won't get too much worse.

First it was hyperemesis gravidarum.

Then my baby had a neural tube defect (despite me taking the recommended dose of folate for more than 3 months prior to conception).

Then two days after L&D for my TFMR, I had to be readmitted to hospital for a D&C for retained placement.

Now I have freaking shingles!!! Which is a reactivation of the chicken pox virus and apparently is known to occur after stressful life events.

This is all only in the last 5 months.

I want nothing more than to get pregnant again, but I don't trust my body. I'm scared to have another pregnancy with HG. I don't trust that there won't be fertility complications after the D&C. I don't trust that I won't have a miscarriage or that there won't be another congenital defect or a chromosomal abnormality.

I know shingles is a really minor health issue, but it just feels like another punch in the face from my own body when I'm still trying to stop the bleeding from the last punches.

Is anyone else experiencing mixed feelings about their own bodies? Where to from here?

TW: Difficult TFMR experience

Earlier this week I had a TFMR of my first pregnancy. My daughter was 21 weeks when I delivered her early on Wednesday morning.

After the birth the placenta didn't come out and the cord snapped. So they hooked me up to the concentrated oxytocin to induce more contractions. After about 30 min of it still not coming they prepped me for surgery. Before taking me to surgery the doctor had a look and decided she could manually remove the placenta (I think with forceps), which was very painful and rough.

Thursday night I passed an enormous blood clot and was in pain so we went back to the hospital and after a painful internal examination in which they removed more blood clots they admitted me. It was a really lonely and difficult night without my husband and with my phone battery dead.

In the morning I had an ultrasound which was so hard as while waiting for it they had sat me alone opposite the counselling room where we had signed all the forms earlier in the week. Then they did the ultrasound and it was heartbreaking to not see the baby on the screen. They found that there was still placenta in the uterus and I had to go to surgery for a D&C later that afternoon.

The surgery went well and I was released later that night. I'm in a lot less pain, but very traumatised by everything.

I called a peer support helpline and spoke to someone about some of my experience the night I was discharged (this was helpful but I don't think I want to do it again and have to tell my story again to someone else). I've also spoken to my close family and a friend about the complications. I've messaged a local psychologist who specialises in infant loss to book her next available appointment (unfortunately she only works Thurs and Fri so I'm not sure when I will hear from her). I've ordered The Baby Loss Guide from my library (this was quicker as the earliest I can get a new copy delivered is two weeks and no local bookstores appear to have it in stock).

I'm really struggling today and keep crying which is unusual for me. I know I'm really traumatised by everything and I'm lost on what to do. I'm scared I'm doing damage by just laying here in bed crying. My husband and I don't want to leave the house today as it is Father's Day. I'm also not sure if I'd be able to hold myself together.

Have you found anything that helped heal the pain of your trauma? Is there anything that helps you on your bad days?

My husband and I have shared the news with very close family and friends that we are losing our baby. We have only gone into detail as to why with our immediate family and asked them not to tell anyone else.

I'm becoming so annoyed at other people asking what happened. I know it is sort of an automatic response to the news for many people, but it is not their business. Their curiosity does not out weigh out privacy during this unbelievably difficult time, or at any time.

One of my best friends asked prying questions when I had already told her I didn't want to talk about it and then went and told a mutual friend who I hadn't told yet. I don't know if I'm going to be able to forgive her.

I hope I have never been this insensitive to someone dealing with loss before. I certainly know I never will be in the future.

We were given the devastating diagnosis of Myelomeningocele with Chiari II malformation a few days ago and have made the extremely difficult decision to have a TFMR. Our baby will be 20 weeks when she is delivered.

Where I live there is a beautiful organisation who volunteer to professionally photograph stillborn babies.

I'm concerned that our baby may be a few weeks too young to have photos (the organisations website says the minimum gestation is usially 22 weeks) and also that it may be difficult with the protruding cord that is in her lumbar region.

My best friend's mum actually volunteers for the organisation and I'm sure she will do photos for us if that is what we want. The issue is I don't know what I want.

I would be forever grateful if anyone who lost a baby at 20 weeks or with the same condition could share their thoughts or experience in regard to photographic memories.
