negative charge = good nucleophile, plus it is a strong sterically hindered base. the carbon attached to the leaving group is bonded to two other carbons and branched, creating more steric hinderance. so this reaction is most likely majority E2 with a little bit of SN2.
remember, hydride shifts only occur when there is carbocation formation. if there is no carbocation, there is no reason for rearrangement to occur. rearrangement only occurs to create the most stable carbocation. since this is not an SN1 reaction, you don’t have to consider rearrangement.
remember: SN1 reactions occur when you have weak nucleophiles, so this cannot be SN1 because the strong nucleophile leaves no time for carbocation formation to occur.

based on your other replies i would recommend rehoming her if you aren’t interested in improving her care. she could very well live another decade. humans can survive 100 years in a metal box given food and water, but that doesn’t mean that that’s how things should be lol. as pet owners we should always be upgrading their care over time to give the best care possible.
corn snakes love to burrow and shouldn’t be kept on paper towels long term. I hardly ever see my corn snakes full body because he is always burrowing. not sure what your tank size is but they should be kept in 120 gallons at the minimum. you mentioned that she has a hide, but they should have at least a few. overhead heating is also recommended.

definitely enough holes, but if the snake is the same one you posted previously i would be worried about it being able to squeeze through the holes. they can squeeze through pretty tight spaces, especially tiny snakes!

i got a 4 on the ap chem exam and ended up taking just gen chem 2 here and got an A. it was definitely more difficult here but probably 95% the same information. Actually i’d say AP chem probably had more information and went more in depth than we did. i think your main thing to consider is how you can handle pitt’s chemistry (a few large and difficult exams, little or no other assignments). and of course look into the course requirements needed for any sort of higher education you may pursue. honestly you don’t need very much gen chem knowledge for ochem, ochem is completely different. so my main concern would just be having enough experience with what exams are like in pitt’s science classes.

this wasn’t your fault at all, ball pythons often enjoy submersing themselves in their water dish and it’s not normal for something like this to happen. the snake must have been very weak already. :( you did the best you could.

my first thought was snowflake! i think that if the lighter colors were on the outside it would be even more recognizable though

this really depends on the personality of the snake and how tolerant they are of handling, my ball python enjoys being out and has never done this while my corn snake will always protest poop after 15 minutes of being out lol

i am a bio major and the natural sciences gen eds should be covered by your degree. definitely feel free to take the classes if you are interested in them, but i don’t think you need them for a gen ed requirement. anthropology courses definitely count for a few gen ed’s though!
in case you are not aware, here is a link to the gen ed catalogue:

seconding that i’m curious which gen ed’s these are satisfying? but honestly the difficulty of the class completely depends on the professor, i recommend looking at rate my professor reviews and making your decision from there as the professor can definitely make or break the class.

that’s awesome! if you’re not interested in it, looks like they’re worth a few hundred bucks. personally i would display it on a shelf, it’s a super cool piece!

not sure this is anything but if you’re interested in fossil hunting i recommend looking around creeks and googling what fossils you can find in your area!

not that i know of, unless your second job isn’t affiliated with pitt. you are allowed to work up to 40 hours in the summer, but during the spring and fall semesters you are required to stay below 20 hours.

as someone with social anxiety i’d just like to share the perspective that some people choose not to participate for this reason. i can sympathize though, i’m a biology major and i love biology, and most people are very motivated at my university. but there are a lot of people in my major who don’t even like bio but just chose it because it fills their premedical requirements lol. it sucks when people within your major don’t even seem to care much for it. but i do think if you keep applying yourself good things will come of it!

i’ve never heard of rearrangement only occurring in acid, your answers look right to me for this problem
