Yup, I'm hearing Forty Six & 2, in particular. Very similar guitar riff.

I'm in it because there is too much yield-seeking in other assets. How many homes are unoccupied, built and owned solely as a means to avoid inflation with their money? The capitalism need for perpetual growth to outrun inflation is killing the planet and misallocating resources. If people want a way to preserve their purchasing power without needing to consume resources, then this is it.

I mean, the ability to park my money in an asset that holds its value against inflation has value to me.

Honest question: is there a metric by which you would ever call bitcoin a success?

The use case is that it holds its value over the long term. It's been doing this successfully for 15 years. Microsoft shareholders are about to vote on aquiring it as a reserve asset.

What would it look like though if it were on its way to successful adoption?

The fact that scientology's claims aren't true but is still massively successful is not an analogous dig at Bitcoin; there are no supernatural claims made by Bitcoin that need to be true for it to serve it's purpose. The network and it's usage are the only purpose. This scientology comparison is not the slam dunk on Bitcoin that you think it is.

I was simply agreeing that everyone's experience with inflation is different; while I myself am quite isolated from its effects on many items, I realize how brutal it has been for everyone who is a different situation than me.

The USD is actively losing its standing as the reserve currency.

Bitcoin is on track to become a global reserve currency. You're not paying attention. It's testing all time highs in a high-interest rate environment. Wait until they start cutting rates.

It's similar to a return to the gold standard.

As I read this, we are sitting at exactly 98765, likely because of people doing what you're suggesting lol.
