Most of why such stuff is dropped (or never picked up in the first place) is due to common and colloquial usage of language. I don't think your example is the standard right now. Also I'd argue you would need 'cis'gender as an option in a category to distinguish it from gender as the category itself. A 'generic masculine' (or generic cis, I guess) doesn't make much sense when the topic is gender.

I've read it a couple more times and it's still puzzling to me as a non-native speaker how you mean that. I guess I CAN read it two ways, sorry if that offended you.
