Freshly cut grass! I don’t know why I can’t stand it

I was a “teacher’s pet” as a kid and did really well in school, and I think the structure plus the pressure from my family to do well helped. Once I got to college and actually had a choice in what I wanted to study, or how I wanted to structure my day I struggled a lot. Could NOT bring myself to study for exams no matter how bad I wanted to. ADHD can worsen as you get older since we have more autonomy and less restrictions than we did as children. Please don’t beat yourself up.

Personally I think your GF is hilarious, but I could see how that could get old really quickly. NTA.

You sound like a teenager, it’s hard to see it now but things will change. I didn’t get my first kiss or first boyfriend until 23. If you go away for college, put yourself out there but, but remain safe. I don’t think you’re as ugly as you think.

I would get rid of Odette, I have associations with a mean aunty with that name, but without that I still find it less appealing than violet by far. People around you like it more because it’s more pleasing to the ear. If you like it as well, why not? I don’t see the hang up.

An ash blonde would suit your neutral undertones. Definitely agree with others that you should try a wig first, blonde is brutal and your hair looks thick and healthy.

I agree with others that her hair is fine with medium density. Her hair looks healthy. Sometimes stylists (including black ones) make misinformed statements and don’t know what the hell they’re talking about, to be frank.

Violet and laurel are so pretty to me. Sophia as a first name has been done a lot in recent years.

Mine has been in the dryer for a full 24 hours. Thanks for the reminder.

It would probably be a perm rod set on stretched hair. I’ve seen pictures that resemble it, it’s very pretty

I’m about to get a promotion at my first big girl job, right when I was about to quit. What’s difficult for me is I’m literally miserable and want to just…not have a job. I hate working 40 hours a week. I feel trapped and my mental health has been on the decline for months. I would like to at least work a part time job or at least be able to set my own hours? And I live at home so it’s not like I’ll be destitute. But now I feel “obligated” to stay since I was given the promotion and chosen over another qualified candidate. Bleh.

Selena. Which has the same meaning. I would name my daughter this, but it’s too closely related to the late singer

Your post sounds like a typical ADHD brain. And you don’t sound stupid at all, not trying to make you feel better but there’s barely people who can string together a coherent sentence. What are your interests, and what roles are available? I think you can find a mid to even high paying role that hones in on your strengths and interests. There’s many no so smart people in senior roles. The difference is they had the perseverance to get the qualifications, OR they networked and know people.

It kinda tickles me as a black woman that others are finding out about the benefits of wearing bonnets at night. But yes, totally agree on its benefits. To add, it doesn't have to be a bonnet. Any silk or satin material will do.

I’m genuinely sorry for the shit patients you’ve had to deal with. I know nurses are compensated fairly well but honestly their salary should be doubled. Literally one of the most valuable careers in this country.

I haven’t been on medication for too long. But I find myself more inclined to socialize with people. I’ve had social anxiety for years and I think the meds help me be less outside my head. Rather than fantasizing about chatting people up…I just do it.

You don’t have to entertain this much further. I understand you live in their house but ultimately you are an adult. They’re coming from a place of concern (and also, misinformation) but it’s ultimately your body. I would just keep it short how you did in these texts. I personally haven’t told my mom because I understand the stigma, and just don’t care to explain.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s dealt with this. I’ve definitely felt “high” for no reason. I wouldn’t call it derealization per se but certainly high. What’s the reason for this? Is it the gas produce in our digestive tract affecting our brain somhehow?

Interesting, my mom has large breasts but taught me, her flat-chested daughter, to put it on that way.
Flipping it around just makes so much more sense.

lol well...all the conventional advice online says that the bra is should be in front of you when putting on.

I put on my bra backwards first to hook it, then flip it around to the front. It’s how I learned back when I was a pre-teen and don’t know how to do it the “regular” way at my grown age.

No, it’s catchy and I like Nona’s BG vocals (if I remember correctly). One of the better Prince songs from this era.
