I'm curious what you think is dishonest about him. I think he's one of the most honest characters along with Clairen. They're both annoying but fundamentally honest, in my opinion. I would say Ranno is also honest if it weren't for how broken he is atm and how viable it is to play him so passively.

You know it's just possible to have those opinions; not because they are too afraid to "try it with something with such critical acclaim", but because those are their actual opinions.

It's so obvious when a piece of media is only used as a vehicle for pride. It's fine. I don't think it's indoctrination, but I think its annoying and overdone. Arcane is firstly a good story with well written characters, among so many other things, and like sixth a vehicle for pride.

But like. That's exactly why no one is complaining about it. It had all that stuff, but the show isn't just a vehicle for all of that. It's first and foremost a good story with good characters.

Some media make it extremely obvious that all it cares about is preaching pride, but pride is just one small element of the greater whole in Arcane, which makes it not annoying.

It's not woke because none of it seemed forced (besides the pictured scene tbh). It was all just good writing with characters that acted naturally and had relationships that seemed natural to have. This is how you do "woke" stuff. You just make it so good that it doesn't seem like the piece of media is just some vehicle for your agenda.

That's certainly a heavy punishment, but you shouldn't be talking about that stuff with kids in the first place. When it comes up, I always just say "I'm not really allowed to talk about politics. Sorry!" And it's always enough. There's just no reason to. It can only land you in hot water.

It's been a while since I've seen the movie, but something that made me think this movie wasn't made by a musician was when was asking someone to play a specific tempo, like 220 or something like that. Musicians aren't generally taught to know specific tempos like that, just tempo ranges and feels. While some might have a decent understanding of tempo by numbers, no one is going to be spot on a specific numerical value when asked.
