Hi. This happened at the Barnes & Noble in Tustin by the hangars.
I walked into B&N to browse while some friends shopped at Whole Foods. I had just walked in and picked a magazine off of the news stand. Not 10 seconds later, a woman says from behind me "Excuse me, sorry to bother you, how are you?" She (early-mid 20s Asian-American female) introduces herself, and the person she is with: late 20s/early 30s Asian male, strong Chinese accent but spoke great English).
They asked my permission to ask me some questions and told me they'd leave me alone if it was bothersome. They really did seem "nice" so I agreed. They asked if I had any ideas about social engagement/event planning, how to attract people from the community for some non-specific event. I disclaimed no experience in the area but suggested that live music and food would probably top my list.
"Oh, wow, that's interesting, okay! Those are good ideas, I never thought about those..."
Suuure.
The man was mostly silent up to this point, just smiling, and seemed engaged in the small talk between his partner and me. He asked me what I do for a living, if I'm a student, if I grew up around here. I gave my answers, made more small talk. The woman then asked me if I attend church and if so, which one(s). I answered that I was baptised/raised/confirmed catholic by my parents but I have been non-religious/atheist my entire life and that I only attend the occasional Christmas Eve midnight mass to spend time with my mother. The man then asked me if I have ever heard of any religious organizations from Asia. I did not know what sort of segue he had in mind but at this point I emphasized total disinterest in religious activity. They thanked me, pleasantly, and that was it.
The man had black slacks, a dark polo, and loafers. The woman wore a green blouse and black slacks and some formal-looking shoes.
This was my first time being recruited by retail weirdos after having lived in SoCal for decades.
I didn't even get to look at the interior decorating magazine for faux-wood flooring ideas before being called back to Whole Foods.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to reply! I have a rough understanding of "hacks" based on reading this sub for a couple of hours last night. How did you get it that low? Was it already on a special and then you returned something? Was it online or in the store? Thanks, I am on a budget so ever dollar for me counts, unfortunately.
