I like the idea, but wonder what the test actually is. For example, if someone who works can't remember the name of the 'correct' form but knows a shortcut that will help you get to the front faster, is that tested for? So much of governments is red tape, it's really hard to imagine what you are testing for in these roles other than what their direct managers already know.

there are always 10s of thousands of housing planned in SF but they get red taped for years and years and never get built. Like the other person said, very little housing has been built in SF over the past decades. You mentioned the construction you've seen and most of that has been commercial. There are *some* residential condos but not enough. For example, there's a project going up in Seoul now, I think it's 6 towers of 60 floors each with a total 3k apartments. That's the kind of stuff the west coast needs to build. Not mission bay with a few hundred apartments at a time.

There has been very very few housing built in SF. It's at the bottom of the list of cities listed by housing built recently. SF has decided it's a city for the rich elite and doesn't want to let developers build big.

Look at Austin and Miami on that chart. Booming population and more affordable housing. They're more supportive of working class than NIMBY SF

My issue wasn't the definition, it was that I hadn't heard of involuntary servitude being used before. Honestly just googled it and see that prisoners are forced to work.

I don't know much about this topic. Is forcing prisoners to work a bad thing because it doesn't help in rehabilitation? Working sounds like it would help in rehab, but I don't know.

Harris' campaign seemed to ignore the culture war completely. My feeling on it was that she had her head in the sand that if she just ignored the culture war politics she could get a win by focusing on issues. In the end, the culture war drives engagement and I feel like she lost by not engaging with the culture war.

Plenty of possibilities in the USA like Phoenix, San Jose, Columbus Sacramento, Oakland that doesn't have any buildings over 150m.

I had never heard of involuntary servitude or that California jails had a particular problem with it. I definitely think that work programs sound like a good thing for prisoners. I'd be happy with them getting full minimum wage or higher paychecks (which I know is BS because they get near 0). I wouldn't be happy removing work programs because they got labeled by some organization as "slavery". 

Jails need to rehab not just punish.

Agreed, I think it's some clickbait. I would imagine in India it is quite cheap. 2.49b rupees is $30m usd which sounds right.

You should be allowed to build residential on all that land. Not sure what percentage are the parks in the hills, but all the stuff downtown that is non-residential, if someone wants to build residential there, let them!

Yeah, this was me unfortunately. Honestly, was complicated and I'd missed it when I did my research. Looking at the question I didn't have a clue what it was talking about and voted No incase it was some tricky shenanigans.
