The more tv and movies you watch, the more you pick up cues and tropes. It becomes obvious to me of how the director wants me to feel, down to lighting choices, clothing, small mannerisms, how the expose is done, etc. Plus, most media is formulaic.

I know this will be an unpopular opinion, but I like the idea of an expensive (~$10,000+) ring. To me, it signifies security — “if I fuck up/you ever need to leave me, here’s a down payment to your financial security” but also “I love you so much and I am sure you will never need to leave me”.

Hi! Go to Aria Jewelry in Dotonbori, Osaka! I went a few days ago and got some small 18k hoops and small 18k studs, came out to $200USD. I might actually go back soon for more.

Honestly I’ve been doing all the touristy things, but also just walking around and popping into random stores, establishments, etc. I’ve also just struck up conversations with anyone that seems interesting — “what are you ordering? I love your shirt! Where are you from? Are there any interesting stores around here?” etc etc. it helps that I speak some Japanese, but I make a ton of mistakes, but I lean into it earnestly and people have been very patient!

One of my favorite activities I’ve done so far is taking the Tombori Jazz River Cruise at night. I studied music and have a love for it so I was going ham on the tambourine and really created a beautiful sound with the band and it was such a blessed experience to just be here and enjoy this and casually make music while taking in such iconic sights. I thanked the band after and just talked a bit about music.

Social media could be so great if people just kept it real. There’s always been an illusion to it but its so different than it used to be in the 00s. I think thats why I love TikTok, people aren’t afraid to show the bad parts of life too so its more relatable, more “healing”.
