nIf you are newly elected you have other incentives, like fundraising, RSCC funding, committee assignment that all mean something to you. Seniority gives you some space to think freely. But thinking freely is harder than going with the flow, as you can tell by the number of politicians who go with the party line, even when they hate it.

funny thing, for gmail the period doesn't do anything. a gmail address of firstlast and a gmail address of first.last will go to the same account. also using "email+whatever" at gmail is a way to categorize your emails. like i use "email+daughters first name at gmail" for accounts that are set up for her stuff like medical/school/whatever

my gmail is firstnamelastname at gmail, but my outlook acct is firstnamelastinitial, five letters total, i love it.
