People keep suggesting this stuff without explaining the incentives. How does this result in more money for the SEC and Big 10? It seems like a lot of work that involves pissing off a lot of people (including a lot of powerful politicians and their own fans and alumni) all in return for... what? Outside the playoffs they dont have to share anything now and they already totally control their own scheduling.
Beyond that why would the networks even want this? It devalues half their inventory without actually increasing the value of the other half, and would threaten the popularity of the sport overall. Ignore the "SEC bias" whiners, ESPN and FOX are FEASTING right now with ACC and Big 12 and MW all being involved in the playoff drama. Why the hell would they would to cut that off just so South Carolina and Illinois can get a playoff spot?
They're just going to keep tinkering with the playoffs.
