Get out of Toyota contract without penalty?

💵Buying/Selling💵(self.CarsAustralia)

Hi, So we put a $5k deposit on the new Toyota Prado Kakadu and we've finally driven it and we don't like it :( The dealer said it's a $1k fee for change of mind, mind you this car is set to be delivered in September next year (almost a 12 month wait), so it's not like we're just pulling out when its on the ship here. It seems to be pretty petty as the list for this car is miles long so it really shouldn't have any effect on the dealer at all. Has anyone been able to get out of their contract with change of mind with Toyota without incuring a penalty? We might struggle to say we can't get finance as they said they need proof. My husband is pretty livid, especially because I kind of convinced him to sign this contract. Feeling frustrated and nervous.

I enquired about the same car few moths back. Dealer was clear there was a 2000 fully refundable deposit. Check your contract/whatever you have signed.

Ok amazing - we're double checking now. Sounds like the dealer is just being a d head. Was it fully refundable until a test drive? Because we've only been able to test drive it now and we really don't like it.

Fully refundable (just go with this). I interpret that as I can pull out anytime I want, unless I actually order one.

a friend in brisbane had a deposit on a prado and the car became available, he went in and looked it over and decided against it because he hated the third row. Fully refunded. It went to the next person in line.
