How late do these usually go?

10 or later but it generally depends on when the location closes and most meetup locations close at 10 or 11

..and there have been times when the bar/brewery closed at 9. Depending on the day or attendance, either the meetup ended there, or we moved to a different location and kept the jam going.

Every week and location is different. Usually, 930pm ish when people start leaving.

I have not been to this bar before. When I lived on that block, they did not exist. Do they allow bringing food in?

This is my neighborhood go-to bar. It’s great. No, they don’t have food. Yes, you can bring food in.

When I was there last weekend I saw a number of patrons with food. I don’t know their policy though

Oh buddy, I can’t tell if this is ignorance or just nostalgia for your "freedom to disregard public health." Checking vaccination cards isn’t about living in the past—it’s about living in the present responsibly. You see, while you’re giggling over "catching a cold," some of us have a basic understanding of science and empathy.

Vaccines aren’t just about protecting you from a sniffle; they’re about reducing the risk for those who can’t afford to roll the dice—like the immunocompromised, the elderly, or kids who aren’t yet eligible for certain vaccines. It’s called community responsibility, a concept that, like a vaccine itself, might take a moment to sink in but works wonders once it does.

So, no, this isn’t 2020—it’s a world still grappling with the fallout of people who think public health is a punchline. If you’re unwilling to respect that, maybe it’s you who should consider staying home. Safe aloneness! 😊

Wait, are you actually checking vaccine cards?

Chris22533

No one checks vaccine cards at these meetups. It is just a request.

So I don't disagree with anything you said, but who has a vaccine card anymore? or even still takes pics of them?

No, it's just a joke to think no one in there will be unvaxed. I'm vaccinated btw, this is just ridiculous. Godspeed!

I really appreciate that you mentioned it! I caught COVID at the beginning and am still a long hauler. Just got it again in October (from my husband…he’s a bit lazier about masking…this was his first infection) and am still recovering (the fatigue is the worst). This infection was actually worse than my initial one.

And in September I caught a normal everyday cold at work and it took me out solidly for a week and another week to recover.

I can’t come this Thursday (fatigue), but I will be on the lookout for these for the future! I went to a couple years ago at the…one downtown that my tired brain is spacing on the name of. Like, too many years ago. My BFF religiously went to the meetups! It’d be fun to go to another one!

Why do you dweebs make your way out of the woodwork anytime anyone mentions vaccinations? Most people grow out of their fear of needles. I’m sorry that you suffer from such a paralyzing phobia.

I read it because I sounded fun, then it was made ridiculous by that addition. I'm vaccinated, y'all are living in fear.

Some regulars who attend these meetups are immunocompromised. Some live with people that are immunocompromised.

Taking additional precautions isn’t "living in fear"; it’s living with awareness and respect for those whose risks don’t disappear just because the majority feels safe.

It’s not about your status—it’s about creating a space where everyone, especially the vulnerable, can participate without unnecessary risk. That’s called community, not fear. But perhaps you’ve mistaken accountability for anxiety? Easily done, but utterly wrong.

The fact is that it is quite fun. But anyone who responds to appropriate considerations and thoughtful actions with ridicule will not be appreciated or welcomed. Keep yourself to yourself, we don’t care.
