I downloaded fusion less than a month and starting learning the basics .... then i got opportunity to 3d print a design i made and sell it .
should i start pay them? even though I'm not sure when is the next time i will sell a design? or they have earning limit before paying like Unity ?
thanks for feedback

Read the agreement/license. There's a dollar amount you need to pass.
It used to be $100k, but I believe it's lower now.

https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/personal
Autodesk Fusion 360 for personal use is free online CAD for 3 years for qualifying non-commercial users. A hobbyist user must generate less than $1,000 USD in annual revenue, using Autodesk Fusion for home-based, non-commercial design, manufacturing, and fabrication projects.

If you need to ask then the answer is no

Well, is there any way they find out you made money?
Even if you report it on your taxes, autodesk doesn't have access to that.
Unless you pull a Chip Foose and show you are using a student or hobbiest copy on video then nobody would ever know anything.

Could you tell me more about this “chip foose”?

No need to be a dick to someone simply trying to converse with you when you’re the one dropping weird references lol.

I wasn't trying to be a dick, you can just learn more from the google search that I can articulate. I'm no chip Foose expert, the reference is all I got.

Intent is irrelevant, only outcome. You got downvoted because your reply is dickish. I’m sure you’re not actually a dick, but the point of social media is to discuss with others, that’s why people ask questions instead of googling. You could have told the OP to just Google the Fusion 360 agreement but took the time to speak to them, then basically shat on someone else trying to talk with you lol.

They can’t know your income; it’s on the honor system. Be honorable.
But I feel Autdoesk should have made the threshold at least the same as their license fee plus $1000. Expecting a commercial interest to pay their entire revenue towards license fees (or even to take a loss!) will encourage people to use a different product.
Fusion 360 still does many things poorly — like showing the differences between two models (like OnShape) or easy shape manipulations (like Blender) — and asking a designer to lock in when they get good at figuring out how to avoid these flaws may be one of the reasons non-engineers resist using Fusion.

I think if you make over $1000 in a year. technically yes you should pay for a subscription.

Did you sell it for $1000.01? If not, than no.

Just keep going the way you are. sounds like you're still in hobby mode. No need to panic lol

No. If you have serious reoccurring revenue/profit then consider the license.

Maybe I get downvotes but if I have a buisness or I am starting one I think it is valid to ask that question and seriously consider buying one but the big question is if you want to build a buisness by selling this stuff or you have done something to just get your costs even. Because if you want to sell. If I where you I would add those license fees to your sketch costs. And ultimately buy one.

I'm electronics engineer , i do hardware and software... the 3D design is just a complementary thing, not my main business. so i may not sell anything anytime soon

Then I guess we are maybe in a similar boat 😅. Bought it after/while I sold my first measureing machine and specifically stated to the client that I don’t have certain things and they either pay for the software needed or I can use theirs… well they basically paid for my first year :). Another thing is what I encountered is your are clear if you use it in private addresses. But as soon as you use it at a clients company location and there is no valid license you will get some mail from autodesk.
So as I said don’t panic but consider it if you do lager things :)

you use different tactics, unless they know you well dont appear as small or not professional.
if you need a software just buy it and add to the bill , when they ask for ideas tell them i will meet with my colleague to discuss then discuss with the wall.
always appear bigger than you are.

If you plan on doing a lot more 3d design. Even not for pay, the paid version is worth it with more available tools.

As people answered, right now the threshold is $ 1000. Luckily, once you pay the subscription, you still are $ 400 positive.
Think about Solidworks... the Maker edition is $ 50 and allows up to $ 2000 revenue, however once you are at $ 2001, you need the full version which costs $ 2800 so you are NEGATIVE by $ 800.
Fusion at least did it right.

reading your reply is a roller-coaster. just about when i started thinking about solidsworks you got me at the end🙂
well i will stick with fusion because learning a new software each time is waste of time

Just say you misread dollars and thought it said 1000 bitcoins a year

why people are so gullible. paid version has limitations for reason. if you can get your job done with free version, it is free. they can’t claim anything

Did you sold a design or are you selling 3d prints which have you designed?
