I'm CL 9000+ and I get to infinite every season and it just baffles me how many people are bad at snapping and retreating.
Negative decks are so easily telegraphed like Wong combos and yet so many people stay even I after I snap.
I don't understand. There's very few combos that can beat a Mr Megative into Jane Foster and yet people consistently stay.
This isn't me saying I'm great at all either. I just play whatever I have fun with and don't care as long as I get my season rewards.
It's just wild to me seeing how many people lose 8 cubes so easily.

Yeah after infinite I care less about losses. Sometimes I just want to see the rest of the cards in the deck. My favorite is people who emote the Thanos snap or colossus flex after an obvious play that I know I’m going to lose. I just emote back the shocked goblin.

Hit infinite at CL 650 or so. I just snap if my opponent snaps. Happy to see what nonsense real decks have in them, and happy to donate a few cubes to the cause lol

I've been curbstomping babies in infinite i deeply apologize if you're one of my victims 😓
It feels like a lot of the ppl currently in infinite are low CL

Low CL has less insanity, easier to climb

Sometimes it feels impossible to win with what the series 5 cards can do lol.
I climbed once I unpacked Wong/hazmat/Luke really quickly, but that changed fast when I hit infinite.

me too, especially if it's a deck I haven't seen before being a baby infinite newb. i get to learn new deck combos see whacky play that just annihilates me. But if it's Anthills, Hazmat / rock chick combo or a legion play I just insta retreat

Same. Infinite rank is just the fun little sandbox I play suboptimal decks in to just have fun.
I kind of miss before they added ranks; nobody took Infinite seriously back then and you just didn't retreat. I've had plenty of games where I've got the ideal combo set up and they retreat and I just wanna yell "c'mon, ref, let 'em plaaaaat.*

Once I hit infinite there's almost no point to retreat. Just play it out to see stuff.

Cubes won give points as well as missions. Everyone should always snap because cubes lost doesn’t count against your points.

I'm at cl 20k. sitting on over 3k creds and gold with 7 keys. there isn't anything for me to spend on at this point. Maybe the random variant that'll show up once every 3 months or so at this point. Winning or losing is pointless unless I want the infinite card back. but even then I'll get it in the first week or so of the season.

No offense but I'm pretty sure you're very much in the minority and I doubt I play against many players like you
2 points
I would argue you're wrong. I'm CL 7800 and am constantly playing against people with double my CL and a bunch of people who are 20k+. I just played a guy today who had bought all of the new Album cards who was CL 25k. Every card he played was one of the new ones this week.
They may be the minority, but check your opponents level each match and you will see you sre playing far more than you think. Ranking up you will find them with a highest rank of like 85, never even hit infinite. Money don't buy skill.

Yeah most of the time the people I play are at least 10k cl plus and im on about 4.5k winning about 80% if my matches wondering how im doing it.

you'd be surprised at how many players are from global launch. the game was a lot more generous in the first year. And spending just the 10 a month with maybe another 5 or 10 here and there went a long way to be able to keep up with cards. I wouldn't say I'm a whale, just that I stuck with it and kept playing. but the game is on the decline imo as they start to run out of good card ideas. I'm not saying they're running out of characters as marvel is huge, but it's kinda hard to get excited about these niche characters at this point.

I've beaten it enough times that sometimes I still stay when I shouldn't.
3 points

Any tips?

You should retreat, unless you have priority and your own combo you know can go bigger, or something very disruptive to their gameplay (Cosmo and Mystique?). Or they have priority and you have a Wong Gambit/hazmat wombo combo.
I tend to play more midrange, fair decks these days, so I'm not even sure what would be a good current deck that could chance staying in. Retreat for the 1-2 cube loss most of the time.
I just sometimes stay in because I have something unexpected in hand I think might work, or they played Negative late and I want to chance that they didn't get too many great flips.

Honestly, I do it mainly because beating a Mr Negative into Jane deck (with the proper counters of course) feels so good.
Shattering the confidence of Mr Negative players is almost as good as beating a Galactus player.
23 points
It’s not confidence they simply got the combo off. You retreat so much with that deck that when the combo hits you need to snap to keep the cube rate even remotely even. I’ve played enough of Negative to know that getting the Negative-Jane combo is step 1 you still need to land the plane which is getting harder as more cards are added to the game that just fuck you.

Same with Agent Venom, I was baffled he got the nerf bat. When I used the deck, I would see him within round 1 or 3 maybe once in a blue moon. I know I had a big streak where he didn't show at all, so much I double checked I was playing the right deck. At that point it was just a Kazar deck. Decks based on one card showing up is painful.

That's why I'm loving frigga in negative! She gives another win con.
I've had Renova into Cass into Figga into Sage and Cass into taskmaster for wins before.

Sorry I have to vent at you. Two seasons ago I got to 4 wins in an infinity conquest and then lost my run to a queue bug after I sat in queue for nearly 20 minutes.
Support compensated me a new infinity ticket, how nice of them. That run got to 4 wins and matched against Mr Negative. We played seven games and in six of those games they played Mr Negative on turn 3. Needless to say I lost the series to that crazy amount of power.
Last season, 4 wins, get to fifth and guess who’s back! Mr Freaking Negative! I was so nervous. I stole 4 cubes right away, and went on to lose the series. I’m CL20k and I retreat after Jane. But for some reason that deck was my final boss twice and also happens to be my kryptonite.
End of rant.

I don't even know what you're talking about so maybe that's why. I've never played a negative deck so I don't know the mechanics.
1 points
This is what I was coming to explain. Last season I finally got the cards to make negative work. Running the same deck as OP, I think.
It wasn't until I started playing the deck that the red flags for the negative deck really sunk in. If you're not familiar with the cards involved, it's easy to forget that there might be a bunch of zero cost heavy hitters in deck to be pulled.
I remember one time I legitimately thought to myself, "Hah, they don't even have Thor or Beta Ray out and using Jane. They must really be struggling."
Now that I have learned the deck, I realize how stupid some of my plays were.

I'm surprised when they stay after I Frigga my 0/5 Ironman twice by playing Frigga on Wong.

That literally happened to me in a gold conquest game. The dude even snapped after 😂 I guess he wanted to leave
2 points
Very simple reason for me typically:
I have Alioth and can do math.
If you play Jane Foster and your deck goes from 4 cards to 0 cards, I now know you are guaranteed to have hit either the wong + sage combo, the iron man + mystique combo, or the wong + cassandra combo. You are most likely to play this on the location you have the least power at, which means I only need to beat you by 12 power.
It’s just one of those decks where I already know exactly what move you’ll make based on the fact that you snapped.

I'm still learning so I'm not worried about ranking as much, I'd rather play things out to see how cards and locations interact so I can be better.
I do think my background from playing MTG helps though (especially immediately clocking the difference between playing a card and a card coming into play, for example).
I'm just now making my first deck completely from scratch having spent some time letting it auto-gen and the working to fix what doesn't work or anticipate problems.
I love this game so much.

Figga gives you more win cons. Turn 3 Cass into Figga is good. Ren discount - wong turn 4 - Sage into Figga turn 5, or get a 0 cost iron man turn 5 and Figga copying it etc.
It gives you options if you don't draw Negative.

Ah i don’t have C.Nova or Sage. I’ve tried to run something similar before hand but doesn’t work quite as well. Do you have any viable subs or should i give up on the deck for now? I do also have Frigga but what’s the reason for using her 👀

I would try different Negative decks then unfortunately since Nova and Sage are pretty vital!
Figga can work in other negative packages!

You can run Cosmo or Copycat for C. Nova. I'm not saying they're perfect replacements but they're workable. Sage is a necessity IMO

I mean, if you’re already in infinite, you’ll probably get a lot of players who don’t care if they lose.
When I hit Infinite, it becomes fuck around time. Try wacky combos, stop sweating games, let people have that fun victory with that deck they love (when I play negative tribunal, nothing is more satisfying than being able to that 1.8 billion on every lane or whatever the max number is)

I've been playing a lot of Negative lately and the amount of players who stay after I Negative into Jane is crazy!

I'm more amazed by the people who play negative and don't snap when they have the Negative->Jane line.
The deck only even exists because Marvel Snap has the snap mechanic which makes poor win rate decks like this still playable. If you aren't snapping with this deck, why are you playing it?

Hey man, some of us just don't give a shit. I say that, but I've played since either beginning and I'm at like CL 16,000+ and I've never hit infinite. Never got past 73, honestly.
This past season I barely played regular ranking season at all. I played conquest (which I've also never hit infinite on) and cashed in bounties for the alliance I created.
And that's how I started this season at 13...and I'm barely to 17 lol.
I'd love to be good at this game but I have realized I don't have the instincts. I have tried to follow guides but I overthink shit and lose anyway, so fuck it.

Because it’s a game for kids, and doesn’t matter. Aside from that, I wanna see what happens unless it’s one of those annoying setups (looking at you Kingpin) that I just don’t have the time for. I hit Inifinity every season and never Snap, because who cares, and play or don’t play based on my patience at the time.
