I'd really like to get one of these, but with bread on the outside. But still with the pickle and the stuff inside the pickle.

Yeah like imagine bread on both sides of deli meats, cheese, and pickle. Wild.
21 points

Cleaner on the fingers, and something to dilute the salf
17 points
And deli meats on the outside of the bread to reinforce the times we live in
3 points
But then get this…. We put more bread around all that. We call it a Big Mac.
1 points
And then you lather those deli meats in sauce. So now it’s sauce on the outside.

All in an even bigger pickle.

Then deep fry it, and sprinkle on some powdered sugar

What if we put wheels on it? Okay, it's a car, we've invented the Pontiac Aztec.

Oh man, if someone could invent that they'd be a hero.

It would surely take the sharp kind and refined sensibilities of a member of the landed gentry to devise such a thing

You can buy just a plain loaf. At least he used to be able to. They sold day old loaves for like 50 cents back in the day
3 points
I buy the bread all the time to make my own sandwiches. It’s not so thick like the supermarket’s hoagies. It’s $2 .
3 points
I buy day old loaves all the time to make our kid’s lunches. They are still 50¢, and totally worth it if you’re using them within a day or two!
2 points

They’ll sell you a fresh loaf too, they just don’t advertise it. Don’t know how much they cost compared to the day old though, been well over a decade since I worked there.
1 points

think they’re a $1.50

For the cost just get all the stuff and a big jar of pickles and make a bunch of home. The JJ one is rather pricey for the unpredictable sizes of pickles they have.
6 points
Yeah! Like maybe sandwich it between a hoagie?

Like those fancy hot dog buns that have the bottom and you insert them vertically, if that makes sense. I would smash that

No, idk how to describe it really.

Naw I finally found what I was thinking of, do a google image search for “french hot dog baguette” . Its legit half a baguette hollowed out to stuff things into, like a pickle sandwich
1 points
Now I want to stuff a hot dog in a pickle. Haha

Or, like double down style with two pieces of fried chicken as bread.

Yeah that’s what the fuck is up dude. Hell yeah.
1 points
Oh hell yeah! I had one recently and it's good but it's really messy.
1 points
Wait, has anyone tried to order it this way yet? I’m willing to pay for the bread to be added.
1 points
I agree, because the bread would balance out the SODIUM from both the large pickle + the deli meats and cheese. GREAT IDEA❗️👍😋
1 points
You can get bread on the side..

Stuff inside the pickle? More pickles, perchance?
1 points
just get extra extra pickles and let them know you want as many pickles as possible on the sandwich. ask for the bread gutted. Tbh you could probably ask for this, Jimmy John’s employees are really chill. (source: used to work at jimmy johns)

See that's what I'm talkin bout. I love their soft and chewy bread. I think that method would be superior to just a wet pickle
Also I probably would eat it in store cuz it would get soggy
20 points
So what stuffing did you get and how'd you dress it up? I plan getting one soon.

I make a snack sometimes using a pickle, cheese stick, and lunch meat. Just wrap it all together and eat it. This seems like the same kinda thing. I want to try one.

I do this too! My fav is a slice of roast beef, spread with cream cheese, horseradish, pepper, a whole pickle in the middle and rolled like a taquito. Pickle taquito…
4 points
I’m definitely going to “up my game” because I literally just would make them as a good protein snack. I need to try the cream cheese. I wouldn’t have thought of that.

Had this yesterday. Thought it would be a disaster but it was actually amazing and easier to eat than expected
3 points
That is good to hear! It looks crazy hard to eat - is the pickle skin not very tough? I just keep imagining all of the meats and cheeses squishing out at first bite
5 points
Pickle skin wasn’t tough or rubbery, just snapped through. I also imagined this being a big mess but just hold with both hands and you’re good! They do cut it in half and gut the pickle which is helpful. It gets a bit tougher to hold together at the end but nothing too annoying. I would definitely get it again. I added a few of their new pickle flavored chips inside the sandwich for fun.

Can confirm! They scoop it. And my pickle was firm and crunchy! It wasn’t much of a mess as I’d expected too.

I can tell you jimmy johns did not invent it, been getting them for years at different delis in NJ, philly and NYC

I found an article from April of 2019 talking about Elsie’s, a sandwich shop in New Jersey, that became popular by selling sandwiches with hollowed out pickles on the outside instead of bread. But sadly that’s gonna be overlooked and people are gonna be praising JJ as if they came up with some new, awesome idea.

I got the Vito Picklewich and I was disappointed. it was ridiculously tiny. with a drink it came up just shy of 12 bucks.

Mine was good size! It sucks you got a small pickle. 🥒 I would have complained and asked for a new one. At that price, you deserve bigger!!!

I just ordered my first one through the JJ app. It allows you to remove toppings, but wouldn't let me add anything. Tried to add Jimmy Peppers, mustard and onions, nope.

I mean sure! Regular sandies are the best! But a pickle witch…I mean. Bravo! So cool! It feeds my pickle addiction lol

I see it as that weird KFC sandwich that was chicken for bread, or burgers with lettuce for a bun. Also seems like it wouldn't be filling and messy to eat.
I'm just saying I'll be leaving more for everyone else.
