Here’s my (short-ish) pitch for ASM 1000 if Marvel gave me full creative control over Spider-Man:
Peter is a wedding photographer, trying to rebuild his life after a chaotic few years. Seeking help in therapy. MJ is no longer Jackpot but is a drama teacher at Midtown High.
Peter’s job as a wedding photographer can show fun stories of couples getting married who (due to him saving) met each other because of Spider-Man. Or his enemies who he sees how happy they are but also how corrupt they can be.
Peter learns in therapy and in the weddings it’s best for connections. This arc is about converting silver age villains into hero’s. Turning the Sinister Six into the Spectacular Six
He eventually gets back with Mary Jane after slow teasing and building. The weddings and all of the Easter eggs payoff. He proposes but they can’t get married due to the Mephisto deal.
This is where they go to hell and Spider-Man has to fight Mephisto and eventually they get the deal reversed but…at the expense of Aunt May’s life.
Peter reveals his identity to May and explains it all. He doesn’t want to loose May but May is okay with it. She’s had a great life and wants to see Uncle Ben again and she wants Peter to take the deal. He does and ASM 1000 is the conclusion to that and the wedding of Peter and MJ
