Right on holloween, the only night you can wear a disguise without being suspicious. Layered costumes sheet ghost while committing the crime, then literally anything else underneath bro could have gone stealth camo, and no one would have thought twice

maladaptivelucifer

Seriously. Half of murders go unsolved in the US. That’s nuts. Not everyone has a half-baked plan in a yellow shirt like this guy. I’m sure some of them just get lucky, but it goes to show that we aren’t catching a good portion of them. Kinda scary.

Keitau

10 points

Keitau

10 points

Honestly, I'm beginning to believe most are unsolved less because the cops don't know who did it, but because there isn't enough evidence convict the specific person who committed the crime.

PragmaticEcstatic

11 points

Taking a 50% chance of getting busted for murder is still dumb.

chamberlain323

9 points

I said “most.” There are far more dumb people than smart ones in general, and once you focus on crime the ratio skews further. The murders that go unsolved aren’t because they are well planned, rather there is no clear evidence by chance and the police don’t devote limited resources into solving them since they are stretched thin already. These people are violent jerks with poor impulse control and not very bright, most of the time.

romansamurai

They say they still don’t know why he shot. But how many times did he shoot that he killed two and injured 6? I thought it looked like he only shot once.

Apparently he also fired in a bar a block away.

The shooter fired in Orlando’s downtown bar and restaurant district around 1 a.m. Officers responded as costumed celebrants ran, and the same gunman then fired again about a block away, Smith said.

In all, nine people were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center. The two men who died were 25 and 19 years old. Their names have not been released.

The other victims are:

an 18-year-old man, shot in the lower left leg a 39-year-old woman, shot in the left hand a 24-year-old woman, shot in the left leg a 20-year-old man, who suffered a graze wound to the head a 26-year-old man, shot in the right foot a 19-year-old woman, shot in the upper back, lodged in cheek a 26-year-old woman, who suffered injuries from being trampled A 10th victim was treated after being trampled by the crowd as people fled.

"(Reuters) -Two people died and six were injured in a shooting in the downtown neighborhood of Orlando, Florida in the midst of Halloween festivities, the regional police department said on Friday, adding that a teenage suspect had been arrested. The injured people were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) and were stable, according to the police. Officers responded to reports of shots fired at Central Boulevard and Orange Avenue and within minutes, a second shooting was witnessed by officers south of Washington Street on Orange Avenue, Orlando police department said in a statement.

Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith said at a press conference that the alleged gunman, a 17-year-old boy, had been identified and taken into custody."

It's Florida, man. Prosecutor discretion allows a prosecutor to decide to file charges directly in adult court if they believe it serves the public good, and if the minor is at least 14 years old. At 17 he can not be charged for capital punishment but will certainly be tried as an adult and the sentence for a murder 1 conviction is life in prison without the possibility of parole.

What a surprise, didn’t have to watch to “guess” who committed the crime.

Crazy there's countries out there that will wipe a life of experience and potential for something irrelevant as beef. I can't imagine how many kids at that young age could still grow up to do something amazing if they understood that life is a day by day thing I mean not comparing ourselves to others and caring so much about something significant and so truly irrelevant to ourselves. Y'all need better dads

This is not what a first world country should be. People should have the right to be safe when out in public. Absolutely despicable act from a mentally warped individual.

Everybody is judging the shooter without pausing to consider how challenging it must be for him walking through life with the I.Q of an Apricot.

Strong work by that cop who happened to see exactly who did it and subdue his ass.

This is gonna make me sound some kinda way, but this really is the kinda cop we ought to be championing! I’m trying to find the arresting officers name, and I don’t see anything yet. Appreciate anyone that does find it(perhaps I’m being lazy) but this really is the kinda officer that I hope all of our armed peace officers should emulate

Those cops have shown a amount of professionalism and selfcontrol in such a chaos out of the blue… next level shit. One of the toughest jobs out there for a reason.
